Two for .45, 2 for the 9mm. Price of ammo is not important, but mag capacity IS what's got me bothered.

9mm because it's much cheaper for practice / plinking and you can also use +P Gold Dot 124 gr JHP for defense and use large capacity magazines.

A Rifleman with a 10/22 is dangerous,but then....a drunk with a BB gun is dangerous too...........but I get your gist. I was using my 9mm with 115g reloads in action pistol a couple of weeks ago and it wouldnt knock over some of the steel targetshock.gif, but no prob for my 45.....thats what sold me |

If you were stuck with ball ammo there would be no question,[45] but since you have the choice of ammo types and brands, I doubt one or the other would make much of a difference, Besides you will be picking up a bit more speed with either a good HP design is going to work well, 2nd the +P+ gold dot. Thats my carry choice for 9mm. 9mm is about 1/2 the price lately of .45, more shootin for less is always good. I am, BTW, a dyed in the wool .45 guy so I hate to say this.

If you want to punch holes in paper then get the 9.If you want to defend yourself/family then the .45 is the obvious choice.

.45 makes a bigger hole. More tissue damage, more bleeding. More likely to stop. Of course shot placement is important but we don't all have ice water in our veins.

Well said. Any .45 guy: Let me shoot you with a 9mm Gold Dot, then I'll let you shoot me with your choice of .45 loads. We'll post our impressions here afterwards. Mag capacity counts. Ammo is like tokens at the arcade. The more you have, the longer you can play. Accuracy isn't just difficult under pressure, sometimes it's impossible. Imagine yourself suddenly woken from a deep sleep, in the dark. Your target isn't just moving, it's trying to to puncture you as well. Shot placement involves a bit of luck under those circumstances. Interesting aside: my ER doc friend says he can't tell the difference between 9mm/.40/.45/.357 wounds, but shotguns REALLY impress him. |
