If you had to choose, which would you choose?

(Yes, I know the Tacoma is not in the same class as the others)

Edit: Couldn't fit the F-150, so write it in if you vote for it.

I don't know if you left it out for a reason - but I vote none of the above.

Ford F-150 or F-250.

I loved the new Tacoma so much; I bought one.

Seems to be a good mix of things. I didn't need a fullsize truck....

6.0L Turbo Diesel is only available in 2500 and up models. He is talking about their Vortech 6000 (6.0L) v8 gas engine.

Titan if they prove well in a few more years. I prefer to see something on the market for a bit before buying. My Pathfinder is super reliable and when the time comes, I will grab a Titan if they prove to be as good.

ah my bad then.

And for those who vote Nissin, know that they are a French owned company, thank you that will be all.

Go for the GMC. Looks better than the Chevy to me.
Link Posted: 8/10/2005 7:36:39 PM EDT
F-150. I have a 2004 Lariat Supercrew and I couldn't be more happy with it (just wish it was 4x4). No problems, plenty of power, interior is the best I've ever seen in a truck, ride is very comfortable.
Link Posted: 8/10/2005 7:37:28 PM EDT
Many people have had problems with the Titan, especially the brakes. GMC and Chevy are the same thing. You should be fine with a GMC/Chevy or the Toyota. Ford performance isn't that great, plus their trucks tend to start fires.

I never understood why that should matter. Does that mean that folks replace them often?

Seriously, though, lots of people watch American Idol...it's still not good television.

Go with the 3/4 ton (Chevy/GMC 2500 - Ford F250).

apparently thats the way the majority system works, if they're happy then its sucessful. If its really that bad then the majority of popular opinion would reflect this no?

I owned a Chevy Extended cab 4X4 models for 14yrs. The first one I had for 10yrs; the last one, a 00, for only 4. I just bought an 05 F150 Super Crew. I am in awe of it. It is so quiet, and rides fantastic.

The Chevy just wasn't as good as the last one I owned. Too many rattles and I hated the cold start knock. I liked the power; what an engine, but the new Ford is hands down the best truck I have ever driven.

I sold Chevys for 3yrs before teaching. I was even the New truck manager; orderd them for the dealership.

edited to add:
My new FX4 with 18" wheels, and the unbelievable sound system, is really good looking and sounding! The interior makes people go "Wow" everytime I show it. Factory subwoofer and amp under the rear seat makes my 6yr old bounce; rear pwr sliding glass, pwr peddles, auto dimming mears, .........Did I mention the gas milage? 20mpg on the highway!!! Yup its a 4X4.

The Chevy-GMC diesel is a 6.6L Isuzu built Duramax engine. Only available in the 2500HD and 3500 trucks.

The 6.0L diesel is what is offered in the Ford trucks, built by International Navistar, and so far has been very marginal at best, has decent power, but no where near the reliability of the previous 7.3L diesel Ford used.

Dodge uses the 5.9L Cummins diesel, which is by far the best diesel pickup engine on the market, but the rest of the truck is not near as good as the trucks made by Ford or GM.

F150. THe new 2005 is built stronger than any other half ton by far.

A few of my friends say stay away from Ford. Why? I know their car reputation suffered, but as far as I know, the trucks are ok. Is it just misconceptions?

Chicks dig the F-150. And it gets me everywhere I want to go. The thing is a beast. Better than it's predecessor, the '82 Bronco.

Link Posted: 8/10/2005 8:21:05 PM EDT
I chose the Tacoma. In fact, I bought an '05 Tacoma DoubleCab PreRunner with TRD Off-Road package earlier this spring. It's a great truck, which will last for a long time. There's a reason it was picked as Motor Trend's Truck of The Year for '05.

What are you going to use it for? work truck? combination of work/pleasure/etc truck?

Conservative looks: Chevy Silverado

Work truck: same

Stock truck: same

On the other hand, if you are planning a monster lift kit and meaner looking. The Ford and Dodge is the better choice plus it's easy to lift a Ford and Dodge. I'm not saying the Chevy is hard to lift but I find the Ford easiest of 'em all.

Haha.

Daily driver, fun truck, utility. I find myself needing more and more room when I go to the range... damn collection and range toys/tools keeps growing...

That and I love trucks.

I'm far from wealthy so my best bet is to buy "new" vehicles at 3 years old usually from somebody I know. This allowed me to get my first diesel without paying several thousand more. I bought a 1996 Ford F350 4X4 SRW in 1999 with the Powerstroke after always owning half tons. It will always be diesel from now on but you have to get a 3/4 ton or 1 ton. I actually get better mileage from 18 in town to 21 on the highway plus you will never want for more power. Just something else to consider.
Link Posted: 8/11/2005 6:27:22 AM EDT
F150.

The diesel 1/2 ton rumors are floating again, maybe you should wait for that!
