$10,000 budget?

Stay at a Motel 6 for a couple nights in Vegas, gamble a little, then buy yourself some matching firearms and fix up the house or something.

j/k, will get back to you when I've got some better ideas..

Your mother in law gave you $10,000 towards your honeymoon? Looks like you struck it rich man, I think you married into the right family.

Does your fiance have a sister?

Don't squander it - find out your fiance's dream vacation and go there. It won't pay you any dividends later in your marriage that you talked her into going to Russia so you could fly in an SU27 while she ate bad food.

The wife says take her to Santorini, a greek island that's gorgeous year round. Very romantic, I hear.

Somewhere in the South Pacific would be my choice, Bora Bora or something.

I went to Hedonism III in Jamaica. We had fun.

Some here may remember the pics.

Her dream is a photo safari in Africa. I am really unsure of traveling to Africa with the political state of that entire continent.

I don't think they'd pass the current CoC.

The Cayman Islands were expensive but worth it for a very peaceful and relaxing honeymoon for us.
My buddy went to Tahiti and said it was paradise on earth as advertised.
Never heard anyone complaining about Hawaii, especially Maui.
Turks and Caicos have a good reputation. With the T&C and the Bahamas you can rent a private island by the day.

If I could suggest though, if you can afford it, pay for the honeymoon yourself or treat it like a loan from your future mother-in-law. The groom IIRC is traditionally responsible for the honeymoon, her family for the bulk of the wedding expenses. If they pay for the honeymoon, you could end up 'indebted' to them in the long run.

We went to Cabo San Lucas. Great laid back attitude, and not as touristy as Cancun. that was six years ago.

Now I would suggest Palaal (sic?) There is a freshwater lake full of jellyfish that are harmless. You can snorkel and scuba with them. A very unreal sensation. You'll never forget it.

The deal is if we pay for the wedding she will pay for the honeymoon.
I only want to do a small wedding so this works out as a good deal for me.

That would really depend on the gal I married.

If I listened to my parents and married a Taiwanese woman, we'd probably end up going to PRChina or, if I had my way, Bali.

If I married a buxom blonde all-American girl, probably somewhere in the States, since she'd turn into a walking Imodium advertisement if I took her to Asia.

I'm not stupid enough to get married.

The whole continent isn't a warzone, but some of it is. Stay where white people aren't prey, and you'll be fine. Like many places in the world, there are parts of Africa where harming Americans is not tolerated because that's where all their $$ comes from.

My boss hunts africa frequently, and has taken his family on safari many times. Look into it, voice your concerns with the travel agent, then go and give her a honeymoon she'll cherish.

Fly to Vancouver, BC and take the train across the length of Canada, with a stop at Banff for 5 days or so.

Or just go to Banff for 7 to 10 days.
