I'm going to try to poll this, lets see what happens.

Hell, if it's in/on your night stand, it's about the same as being under the bed, just choose that.

So where do you keep your firearm as you sleep? I'll probably get flamed for this, but my 12-gauge pump lays uninhibited right under my spot of the bed.

Smith and Wesson .45 DA under the pillow. If I have an overnight guest joining me, in the bedside table.

Can't vote, need a "in the drawer in the night stand"

+1 to the something similar!

On the night stand next to my bed.

Those tritium Heinie Straight 8's are VERY easy to locate in the dark.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 7:01:57 AM EST
None of the above, pistol on top of the night stand.

All of the above.

I can't disclose that information, in case someone wants to use the information against me!

I sleep with a cocked and locked 1911 in my hand.

I don't think I'd admit that!

Mine is nearby but not in my hand.

In a DAC Sportsafe right beside the bed.

(that's not in your poll)

If the Dean of Students asks, its in the gun safe down the road.

Glock 19 or Kimber between the wife's and my pillows. That way either of us can reach it if we need it.

So it's always under your pillow then?

Need to add "leaning in the corner next to my bed".

USP 45 & 2 spare mags on the floor right beside the bed.

Safe is 2 steps away with 5 handguns loaded and ready on the door, 590A1 and MIA Scout loaded and ready up front.

Since we had a child, E - None of the above:

Right next to the bed, open like this when we are in for the night...

...closed and locked any other time (although access is very rapid & a lot quicker than getting into the gun room my "office" ).
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 7:39:52 AM EST
On the bottom shelf of the nightstand, next to a spare mag.

IMHO, being on the nightstand isn't the same as under the bed, since I can reach the nightstand from the bed, but I can't reach under the bed without getting out of bed.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 7:41:29 AM EST
ok, the truth is, I just have an 870 stuffed with #4 leaned up against the headboard of the bet.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 7:42:24 AM EST
P-99 loaded under bed...
12ga unloaded just off foot of bed standing up in corner of dresser and wall... hidden to bedroom door shells in nightstand drawer.

The p-99 is there for the "oh $hit psycho broke in", the 12ga is there for when a car alarm goes off in the neighborhood. Load a couple slugs walk to front door in my undies, leave the light out, open the door, step out, and "CHHHH CHHHH" chamber a round. Peace and quite through superior firepower. The new neighbor that had a "way to sensitive" alarm quickly fixed it.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 7:44:04 AM EST
On the headboard of the bed.

We have a waterbed with the elaborate headboard.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 7:48:38 AM EST
Loaded USP 45 on the night stand. Loaded Mossberg pistola grip 12 guage under the bed.

Well, I'm not the only one then. Good.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 8:15:43 AM EST
What do you mean "firearm"? Pistol on the nightstand and shotgun under the bed.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 8:45:33 AM EST
Benelli M1S90 bedside.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 8:50:41 AM EST
Close....very close.

No kids......at arms length..... Anywhere!

I have little ones, so in the nightstand, under the pillow, and under the bed are just a bad idea here. I am 4 steps to my closet. If someone gets past my dog and the security system without waking me, they are WAY too good for my M4 and 1911 to make a difference anyway.

Easier legally to let the dog have the BG anyway! Unless you are in the PRK...
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 9:13:36 AM EST
In the nightstand. I used to keep a Benelli under the bed, but I thought that was overkill (plus it's quicker to get to the handgun).

You under the pillow guys are nuts. The bed holster looks cool. I improvised something like that before when I didn't have a nightstand.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 9:15:14 AM EST
On the night table, right next to my head.

CMOS
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 9:18:55 AM EST
G-17 under the neighboring pillow....thats where my hand rests anyway.

Mossberg 590 leaned against the wall between nightstand and headboard.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 12:16:05 PM EST
You guys are a bunch of freaks - that many of you sleep with it under your pillow!?
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 12:42:11 PM EST

I've got darn near the same thing. 1911 even. Nice thing about it is that the 'bedskirt' can sit over it, so it's really not that visible.

What I'd really like is a 'underbed drawer' gunsafe. Something that you could unlock, and slide out. You could keep a shotty, AR, whatever, easily accessable. Hmmm....
