Anyone know where to get UK-style poppys in the US?

Probably have to order online or make one yourself. It's never really caught on in this country.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

People wear poppy pins in honor of Veteran's Day.

In Commonwealth countries the tradition for Remembrance Day (11 Nov) is to wear a poppy in one's buttonhole.

I don't know if you'll get them in time but you can always try geocoins

Poppy pin on the right top.

Poppy coins (in gold & silver) on the bottom left & bottom right

Which reminds me.... I should look through my geocoin collection. maybe I have a pin there.

Around Veterans day at some supermarkets and the like, you will see Veterans collecting donations... They usually have them.

I have one from last year hanging off my rear view mirror

The VFW hands em out around here. Shoot just go head out to a grocery store around the 9th and look for em out front. They'll be "selling" them for a donation.

i have a couple somewhere. I was in England in November 2007 and picked up a couple over my course of the trip. Although I have moved apartments about 3 times since then.

Exactly. Around here they sell them a couple times a year. In the spring and Veterans' Day. I always buy one. They're always thankful when I give them 2 or 3 dollars for one. They always try to give me another.

good point.

I have some cloth poppies & forget-me-nots tied to the vents in my car. the poppy is from the marine stand at the state fair a couple of years ago and the forget-me-not is from the dav.
