I'm particularly interested in camp fire bread that can be made in a skillet. Anyone have sources on the net or cook book suggestions, simple recipies?. I'm looking to add some variety to our shore lunches in Canada.

It's not really camping if you use cards with pictures on them to cook dinner. Let alone have the cloves of garlic and mint leaves to season it. Well anyways, I don't. Camping==freeze-dried.

Anything can be cooked in a dutch oven or on an open grill. If you want to get fancy, bring some vegtables or a seasoning sauce with you. *shrug, I'm partial to MRE's, Raman noodles, and Oatmeal myself.

Freaze dried!?! MRE's!?!, Ramon Noodles!?! OATMEAL!?! My god![puke] Just because your living in the bush doesn't mean you have to live like a savage. There is nothing like pulling up to an island and frying up Walleye that you and your buddies caught within the last hour. Throw in some Deer tenderloins(sort of surf and turf Ontario style), barbecued beans with vidalia onions and strips of real bacon, red skin potatoes with peppers and onions, sweet corn bread, apples fried in butter and brown sugar, ice cold beer. That's what I call roughing it. I'm just looking for something special to add to the feast.
