Some people say all people do. But in my case, I only "hear" the words if I read slowly. If I read fast, I just have the concepts/events unfold without a conscious thought of words at all…It’s like I live the story, but don’t hear it.

Yeah.. I do. But, only if I think about the words however...

I hear voices all the time - except when I'm reading.

I only hear the words if i try to think about what I am reading. I think "hearing" the words is probably more common with people who either read infrequently or children who are first learning to read. Now, when i type I hear the words in my head. But when I write by hand, say an essay exam, I don’t hear the words I just think about what I have to write. How odd is that?

Wait... are we talking... "a voice" or "your voice"? I guess I think the words in my voice. If it's boring... my lips move to keep from getting side-tracked... sometimes I HAVE to read it outloud several times if it's something stupid like instructions or a question on an application/exam.

Only if I've seen a movie or TV show to give a character a voice.
