I know some of you don't like to read lengthy stories, so I'll try to be succinct. I read Cook's Illustrated cover to cover. In the latest issue, under Notes From Readers, someone writes in about having a strange taste in their mouth after eating pesto. The problem lasted for days. There are pine nuts in pesto.

It has been discovered that China has introduced two species of pine nut that have never been used for human consumption.  The condition is called "Pine Mouth". It makes everything you eat and drink taste bitter and/or metallic. It can last as long as two weeks. No lasting effects, so far.

Moral of the story. Don't buy cheap chinese shit. Only buy European or Middle-Eastern grown pine nuts. They may cost more, but you won't end up with Pine Mouth.

I try very hard NOT to buy chinese crap. Sometimes it is tough to do, but I'd like to live a nice long life and it seems that they don't want us to.

We are nowhere near in a position to say no to china. Until we pay off all the debt they own and bring back a sizable manufacturing base, "no" is not an option.

We need a trade war, IMO, and I have said it here for years.

They have no respect for international property rights agreements. They sell us poison - repeatedly. They play games with their currency. I could go on and on. It's pathetic, actually.

I hear people say this and I'm . Maybe I'm not seeing things correctly but, A) We had 9/11 occur just 9 months into his presidency. War ain't cheap.  B) Then the "Everyone deserves a house, whether they can afford it or not. He tried to sound a warning bell, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. According to the dems and Bawney Fwank Fannie and Freddy are doing just fine. Yea sure they were,  right up to the moment the shit hit the fan.

Was he a bit too generous with what the dems wanted, yep. But he had a lot to content with in his two terms.  Trust me, I didn't agree with him 100% by any means. But come on.

It means skittle shitting unicorns have as much chance to appear,as US paying off our debt and bringing back a sizeable chunk of manufacturing.

Without a radical change in DC (and I mean radical),it aint gonna happen.

We can't.

China owns our debt.

China owns our manufacturing.

China is buying our mineral rights and natural resourses.

China owns the US.

We can't.

I'm aware, I never claimed it was going to happen, just that it needed to if we were going to cut ties with china.

Wife was coming home with Chinese garlic. I banned that stuff from the house. I may have to get my tomatos from Mexico (better than crap from Florida), but I'm not risking my life and my kids lives with poised food from China.

Nothing will change until there is a worldwide economic collapse. Then we can start over.

ETA: at which point hopefully Social Darwinism will take over and clean out the parasites of society. As long as there are those that are not willing or able to take care of themselves we will end up in the same spot as we are now.
