for an online gun sale, does anyone call ahead first, or just send it out?

I have called ahead.

Of course you call ahead...You need a copy or the 1st 3 and Last 5 digits of their FFL.

I don't know about individuals, but I cannot ship a firearm to a FFL unless I have a signed copy of his current license on file. Otherwise what is to keep someone from claiming to be a FFL and having you ship the gun direct?

http://199.196.145.75/FFLeZCheck I use this, as an individual I am not required to keep copies of an FFL license. I must, however, verify that I am sending it to a listed address of an FFL. That utility above verifies that there is an FFL holder at the address.
