I see at the botom of the page it says copyright 1996-2006, but I don't think I have ever seen a Member since date before February 2001, did the forums switch formats and everyone have to re-join in 2001? Just a newbie wondering how long I have been missing out on the fun.

Started off as a email distribution list in '96, IIRC

How ar15.com started....

Yes, however it happened in Nov. of 2000 (and there are a few with 2000 jon dates). Most of us just didn't find out where it went for a couple of months.

Yes, we had to rejoin.

I used to post under this handle and a 2nd one. I think I lost about 10k posts on the move

I can only imagine those threads from 2000 and before...

Smokeless Powder: Hype or High-Speed?

Which upper should I get? A Colt 20" A2, or a Colt 20" A2?

H-suspender or Y-suspenders: Which are more tactical?

<-----------------Been here for a long, long time.

ETA I remember the old domain name was something like www.ar15.com/11111.html or somthing like that. The 1's were what through people off when the site switched.

And here I thought I'VE been around for awhile...

Nov 2000 is about the oldest join date I recall seeing on the board since I've been here...

Some of us just won't leave...

I've met many good friends from this board, and most of us joined the site about the same time...

Shaggy
MarioFamoInc
Ops
Gus<BR>HowardM60
ToeTag
DavidC
Helldog40 & Lorie

And many more...

IIRC, the entire board was on one page before the new site was created. Everyone had to start over WRT post counts, and I seem to recall that there used to be a "junior member" thing at the old board until you had so many posts.

When the new site came up, it had its teething problems; for me, it was REAL slow. A lot of similar sites popped up, and one of them actually was a very near copy. I assume these boards all fell by the wayside. I no longer have the links, as I deep-sixed AOL a long time ago.

Long live Arfcom!

Been on since 98-99. Everyone had to rejoin in late 2000 and start over on post counts although some had their bazillion post counts restored somehow...

Yep you were a junior member if you had under 100 posts.
