"Tier 1" manufacturers go to extreme lengths to safeguard their design before being released... In the case of the fiesta, they've been around for a while (outside of the USA) with their slug car design and nobody really cares because 1. it is a fiesta and 2. it costs 12k.

Test vehicle doesn't necessarily mean they are testing the car. It could be any number of sub systems or accessories or it may not have anything to do with the car at all.

look at the rear. a nozzle for CNG or propane?
the box on the dash has a blue thing running into it. almost looks like a o2 sensor. there is that big red knob and if you look at the front it seems to have two hoses running into it, like it is a valve for something. im guessing maybe propane or CNG fueled vehicle with instruments to adjust the fuel trims. |

Nothing confidential about that test vehicle. Any test vehicles with new body styles are completely covered with false panels.
Sticker on center top of the windshield is the tag # used by vehicle control to track who has the car signed out. Sticker on the rear windshield is the build # of that model variant. Flange on the exhaust is used to clamp another tube on for exhaust gas analysis Covered tube next to hitch with the on/off valve is a purge or other connector for the vapor canister line or fuel line. PVC tube on passenger side roof is temp and air flow sensor. Big red button on dash is a emergency stop. Trust me, it's very useful when testing new control software that goes awry. ![]() Laptop mount in passenger seat. You don't want a loose PC sitting on a seat while on the track. Data acquisition system in rear seat. All OEM's use similar equipment on their prototypes. Nothing to see here. |
