There's a lot of buzz that Utah is preparing a special election and that Chaffez will be stepping down in the next few days.

If he finishes his term i would guess he is positioning to run for governor in Utah.  Resigning at the beginning of a term is highly unusual.

Chaffetz has always wanted to be governor; the seat will likely come open in 2020 when the current governor said he will retire.  If that is his goal, it doesn't help him to stay in Washington any longer than 2018 anyway.

Since it has become obvious the Left has targeted him for harassment for the rest of his current term, he figures he has nothing to gain and possibly a lot to lose if he keeps his seat in Congress until then.  He will stay on long enough for the Legislature to figure out how to replace him -- they would have to call a special election -- and then he will step down.

The garbage you are reading and seeing is an example of why no one trusts the Media anymore.

I thought he said he wasn't going to run in 2018? If there is talk of him leaving office early it isn't because he just wants to go home.

Yesterday 4/19, the news on the radio mentioned "away from? home 1500+ nights", for what that is worth.

None of the folks in talk radio mentioned? it.  I listened specifically for Rush or Hannity to mention it and neither said a thing.
