I recently got a gift of a $400 gift certificate to a gun store and want to add another gun to the collection.  I'm not even sure which type of gun i should get.  So far i have:

Sig P229 .357sig/40cal
Glock 17
SAR1
Bushmaster Shorty 16"

What would you recommend next?  I'm thinking either some type of shotgun, bolt action rifle, or handgun.

So far my choices for each type are..

Shotgun:  Remington 870 Marine Magnum

Handgun:  Springfield Loaded 1911 or Makarov 9X18

Rifle:  Remington 700 308 Win.

Given my current collection, what would you get next?

Well you've got the semi-auto rifles covered. You've got the handguns covered. Your gunsafe is aching for a shotgun. Can't go wrong with an 870. You need a shotgun to complete the cycle.

The Marine Magnum is sweet. I have one with a Surefire foreend and I love it.  It handles very well and the nickle finish is enough to make all your friends drool.  It always gets the "damn, that's a cool gun" remarks.

Weird, our gun collection is almost identical.  I have a G17, G30, SAR1, and 16" Bushmaster shorty A3.

I think you need a good shotgun.  I would recommend a Mosberg 590, but I here really good things about the 870.

My next gun is either a Combat Shotgun or a Kahr PM9.  I am leaning towards a PM9 because my G30 is a little much in the Arizona heat.

Think of your needs in layers. First layer, hand-knife-pistol. Second layer, shotgun-carbine. Third layer, main battle rifle -bolt action.

Fill the hole, then build out.

The .308.  Reach out and touch stuff.

This is assuming everything in your collection is already optimized for your individual preferences and needs.   It took me awhile to learn having weapons and being able to use them are two very different things.

Don't forget about revolvers!

Dang PeteyPete, decisions, decisions.. It's a toss up between the Remington 870 and the Remington 700.. But since you've already got the rifle covered with your Bushy, I'm leanin towards the shotgun...  [shotgun]
