The Puritans wanted freedom. That they thought the whole of mankind was sinful wasn't as important to me.

I don't agree that increasing government spending helps in a recession.

I got a market one wrong because I read it too fast.

Can't remember the fourth one I missed.

Missed question #14 about the Puritan's beliefs.

Now, I actually don't think this question belongs on a "test" about civics. Especially considering there were no questions about the colony in Virginia –– they had a MUCH larger impact on what the country became than the Puritans.

Question #14 - B. stressed the sinfulness of all humanity
Question #33 - D. tax per person equals government spending per person

I thought maybe they would have Puritans down for religious freedom. I didn't think stressing the sinfulness of humanity was unique to Puritans, oh well. Also the last question was pointless, I just assumed they said debt when they meant deficit.

33) If taxes equal government spending, then:
A. government debt is zero
B. printing money no longer causes inflation
C. government is not helping anybody
D. tax per person equals government spending per person
E. tax loopholes and special-interest spending are absent

I said A as if taxes pay for spending then no dept is incurred. They say the answer is:
D. tax per person equals government spending per person

Which is incorrect because there are people who do not pay taxes, get get money spent on them.

It's a badly worded question. "A" isn't correct because government can still be in debt from last year even though taxes equal spending for this year. The answer should say The average tax per person equals average government spending per person. A lot of these questions I recognize from textbooks and other civic quizzes on the web.
