Cockpit window is raked back at a greater angle.
ETA: No! Wait! The tail! It should have a twin boom tail ETA #2: Aw, crap! My plane ID skill are really fading. (or my cataracts are getting worse). I thought that was a B-25... For an A-26, it should have more surface area on the tail, and then there's the antenna in front of the cockpit, and no glass in the nose. |
looks like a b25 with a wierd tail no windows in the nose and more modern engines
National Guard Bureau VB-26B Good answer, but not the correct one. |
What the fuck does that have to do with anything? |
I am not a plane expert by any means but here is my wild-assed guess.
There are at least two antennas in different locations. The boomerang looking thing in the front (which is a seemingly odd placement and the little white fin one on top (or that could be part of another plane thta you can't see in the background). |
Maybe there is a stove on the plane! I'm hungry! |

Maybe a tranny too. In case you're horny. |

I cant wait till we get the ignore user button in the next site update so I wont have to read anymore of your pointless and stupid remarks. |

It was when the picture was taken. |

Why you gotta hate on me bro? |

Most Mauraders had 4 bladed props, this has only 3 hamilton standards.
Why does the nose say "Air Force" but the tail imply the National Guard Bureau?
Get thee back into the wardroom evil blackshoe officer. |
It's not in a twisted heap of wreckage on the ramp?
or was that the (Martin) B-26? I just read an article on how the A-26 of WWII became the (Douglas) B-26 of the postwar era. It confused the crap out of me. |
B 26 was a completely different airframe. This one is based on the A 26 Invader. Edit; Also, the B 26 was made by Martin Aviation. The A 26 by Douglas. |
Historically significant. |
Its a highly polished ANG A/26 well actually a B26 with the newer desgination being used in its later service life. Being polished I would say its a VC-26 Executive transport? Maybe even a VERY early version of a "Air Force One" but since the term wasnt used yet its POTUS plane from the 50's?
Well, to be correct, the A-26 Invader became the B-26 Invader after WWII with the formation of the USAF. Seems the AF wanted to get rid of the Attack designation, and have only fighters and bombers. So the A-26 became the (Douglas) B-26, not to be confused with the (Martin) B-26. I think... |
I think you are on to something there. This one is definetly a transport bird. |
OK than what's unusual is it doesn't have a Standard Missile up its ass. Is this the last of the VB-26s? The one with some 9,000+ hours on it? |
Lol! |
what's so unusual about that? |
Point to the evil blackshoe officer wandering outside the wardroom. |
Thanks for the warbird pic mate, but i was to slow to get in an answer. I picked it as a modified A-26 invader, due to the diff canopy and the boomerang thingy on the nose.
End of a era. |

There are still a few flying up in Canada for Airspray as fire bombers, they have a few for sale also. Group Buy anyone???????
ETA; as far as not having a glas nose only the A26C had the bomber nose the A26B had the gun nose. |
God thats a lovely aircraft.
One of the most underrated IMHO. |
Yea, after dropping it's bomb load they could and did go me109 hunting!!
it's a A-20 Boston/Havoc light bomber/attack aircraft. made by douglas. the boston was sent to england for lend lease, updated version was used by us and remaned the havoc and designated the A-20.
