Just curious.  I'm not a fan, but have heard some of their stuff around and might be interested.

If anyone knows of a source of mp3's, let me know.  I don't have any of their stuff so I'd be interested in a few tracks.

I'll also be researching the song from SteyrAUG's BHD video.  I think the title was "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor."  For a "death metal" group (is that an accurate description??), they seem really talented.  Anyone know where I can get a copy of that song?

I have the capability to burn my own discs (have in the past), and would like to start doing more of it.

FWIW, I'm a big fan of Pennywise.  I like their "live for today" attitude, but think that deep down they're a bunch of socialists (yuck!).  Their lead singer wants any crime committed while armed to be mandatory jail time (can't say I disagree there, at least if I can define the crime).  But not sure where they stand on a lot of issues and I've been trying to find out.

I also like some stuff by Fugazi, Face to Face, Sick of it All, etc.  I don't know a lot about these bands, though.  I get intro'd to a lot of these bands by windsurf, snowboard and mtn. bike videos.

Hopefully that gives you any indication of where I'm coming from.  But I'm in serious need of new listening material.

I don't really know much about SOAD's politics, but they make great music...

Yup. Just go to www.kazaa.com download their desktop and start downloading to your heart's content....

P.S. PennyWise Rules. Their song 'Fvck Authority' is my mantra....

Corey,
SOAD Rocks!!
As for the Drowning Pool, their lead singer ODed in Manassas last month.

By the way, nice Wilson.

IIL and Chris: Thanks on the kazaa.com heads up.  I'm trying to figure my way around there for the first time.

ChrisLE: Living for Today and Every Single Day.

Hydguy: Thanks.  I love it.  It is a very nice firearm.  I'd recommend a WC to anyone looking for a 1911.  Mine has all tool steel parts, and I'm a little peeved that the new CQB's have MIM's, but I'm not in the market for one anyway.  [:)]

Oh, and I wanted to ask, OD'd as in dead, or OD's as in just your typical fucked up "rock star?"

After hearing "Boom!" and "Nuguns" by SOAD today for the first time, they certainly seem to be anti-gun.  I prefer my heavy rock more like Slayer than like Anthrax so SOAD isn't quite my thing, but I would still like to know more.z

The Vandals are on the lighter side of punk rock but have a lot of good songs that I sure as hell agree with.

pennywise is heavy antigun, ever since one of there members committed suicide with a gun.

most punk bands are very socialist, as accepting as they seem to be of certain things, they are very closed minded to many other things

So how do I download Kazaalite versus the standard Kazaa?

I downloaded the standad program last night, but I can delete it and run an anti-spyware program that I have.

TIA

The song in SteyrAUG's BHD video is "Bodies" by Drowning Pool.

Yeah, Kazaa can get ANYTHING. And yes, I mean ANYTHING. SOAD is good, but the politics of almost all non-country bands sucks. "Sugar" is a good song by SOAD, "Deer Dance" is another, even if it has bad politics.

Well, I really liked SOAD's first album, but their latest stuff sucks. It almost seems as though they are trying to "slightly" modify Metallica riffs and claim them as their own (I couldbe dumb on this one, but that is what it sounds like to me).

But anyway, onto their politics - THEY ARE BIG GREEN PARTY SUPPORTERS!! I was interested in the lyrics to one of their songs a while back and did some research on their site. This was a well over a year ago, but back then they had an entire section talking about their views and how the only real candidate was Ralph Nader. After that, I swore to never give any support to their music.

To understand their political views, get their new album(Steal This Album) and listen to track 4. I think this states their view clearly.

Lemme guess.  Marijuana, right?
LOL!  [whacko]

My guess is heroin, right?

I don't know enough about death metal (is that what you call it?) to know if H is common in those groups.

Not that it matters.  The guy's dead and I'm sure it sucks for his friends, family and fans.  Too bad, really.

No drowning pool is not death metal. Just plain rap metal/nu metal. I don't like them personally, but it sucks that he ODed. I think it was H too, haven't heard much about it though.

Luckily, my favorite band (tool) seems to have fairly reasonable politics as well. At least as far as I can tell through all their obfuscation and jokes. They hate LA as much as I do, which is always good. They seem to be fairly keen on personal responsibilty too, not sure of their views on guns and stuff though.

They did cover a Ted Nugent song though, if that means anything..

I've listened to one of SOAD's albums and I wasn't that impressed. Some of their stuff I liked, but not the whole disk.

If you are looking for a way to get rid of spyware try this: www.lavasoft.de It's free and searches for all that crap you don't want.

Isn't their newest album titled "Steal This" ?

They figured they'd name it that after a bunch of the songs that were to be released got leaked out and downloaded across the net.

Guess the little socialist bastards don't think their music is "for the people" now?    They get all preachy up until it comes down to their paycheck that comes from record sales, then I bet they are capitalist to the core and believe in things such as copyright law.
