Sorry, free doesn't count. Just curious to know how much prices differ for ammo around the country. Let's say 500 rounds of .55 gr PMP brand ammo(brown box with the Gazelle on the front) Wholesale Guns & Ammo, 5 minutes away from my house, has it listed in Shotgun News for $89.99 What about your neck of the woods?

I shoot a lot of PMP ammo and I've been very happy with it. I get mine from Century Arms for $72 per case (500 rds) delivered to my door.

Wolf .223 for $2.19 a box. That works out to $109.50 a case! (1000 rounds) But I never bought Wolf ammo. I shoot only reloadable brass, and I DO reload .223. I've bought Winchester white box .223 (5.56 nato, actually) for $3.75 a box, which would be $187.50 for a case of a thousand. Not bad, for good ammo! I figured my reloading costs and it turns out that my reloads are barely worth it, if it weren't for the total assured quality I put into each round. I KNOW my .223's have the right charge in them, and I know they're consistent. But I'm currently making them for a materials cost of $3.61 a box, not counting time or the investment in the equipment. Not much savings, but what the heck...I like doing it. Then again, the "retail" price on PMC .223 around here is $5.25 a box! Maybe reloading IS worth it after all! If I can find a CHEAP source for Winchester primers and powder, I may be able to cut costs substantially. CJ

Remember the 'good ol' days' - I remember when the Albany NY gunshow was actually worthwhile to go to. If I remember correctly stuff like PMC and IMI was 500 rounds for $60 out the door with a free ammo can. I have no complaints with the PMP stuff either, if I can get 500 rounds of anything reloadable for under $120 or so I'm happy.

I remember buying Norinco .223 for less than $2 per box of 20. Ran pretty good through my Colt ARs, just wasn't worth a shit to reload. But at that price, who cares? Those were the good ol' days....

I'm pretty sure I bought a bunch of Barnul 55gr from ammoman a couple of years back for $99 for two 500 cases. The stiff ran real well in shaggy's M-16s last summer.

As of a couple of months ago, Galyans Trading Post was selling Q3131A for $3.14 per 20 round box with a minimum purchase of 10 boxes. (Before 9/11 they were selling it for $2.69 a box with the same minimum requirement.) Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge they don’t do mail order. www.galyans.com/

Ever? I used to get 5.56 in bandoliers and ammo can for $100 (per 1000 ). That was in '89-91 though. Best price in the last few years has been PMP $159 delivered per thousand.

85.00 Tax Included. 1200 rounds, brass cased reloads. January 2002 Gunshow at Big Town, Mesquite TExas. Ammo can included. Sure has been fun plinking ammo, but I have noticed some inconsistent charges. A few dented cases. TheRedGoat
