I'm working with a reduced budget right now. Anyone have an opinion on a good FREE WYSIWYG HTML editor? Dreamweaver's nice, but it's also like 4 bills. No, notepad doesnt count.

Yes Notepad does count, because that is the only way to design a web page correctly.

How about Netscape Naviagator, it has a html editor that looks sort of like MS Word. It can't do as much as Dreamweaver but then its free.

A text editor.  It's what I've used for 8 years doing web pages.  If you know HTML well enough, it's amazing how streamlined your pages will be.  The problem with all these fancy GUI editors is two-fold:  1)  They put extra junk that just wastes bandwidth and 2) they usually use non-standard HTML (IE-specific hacks, etc).

YEP, use notepad.  Or an html editor that is not a drag and drop WYSIWYG type.
They all SUCK, MS frontpage is probably the worst.  Spent hours only to finbd out the pages randomly looke lije shit on other machines, regardles of which browser I used...
Partiocularly bad on netscape browsers.
The WYSIWYG type add in ALL SORTS OF BS inbto the code, and makes it about impossible to find anything in the code for later changes.

The IDE kind will just help formatting and color the text so that you can find errors easily.  Some may put extra BS in, don't use one that does.  Stick to writing the code man.

example of frontpage work.  Looks great on my machine, but look at it with a browser other than IE.....

HomeSite.

Version 1.2, that is.

The free version before Allaire bought it, screwed it up, and then started charging money for it.

Basically a Notepad on steroids.
