I found a really interesting boltie, the AIA M10 - it's a re-engineered and modernized No. IV Mk. II Enfield - and I'm interested in buying one.

So, how does a U.S. Citizen buy a gun from a Canadian dealer?

I'm not sure, but I think there's some Molson involved...

Whoa, I seem to have wandered into a humor-free zone.  My bad.

Try this page: www.gunbroker.com/Support/SupportFAQView.asp?FAQID=1110&NoCount=1

IIRC, you need a Canadian export license and a Canadian firearms license, as well as an American import license, probably an FFL and some ATF form (can't remember the number right now). Google the process for getting a Canadian license for an American citizen (I know there are a few forms you need to fill out). All in all, it gets quite complicated if you're doing it yourself. It would probably be best if you just got a retailer to do it for you. Ask around for one that will help you.

ETA: Luckily for you the rifle you're looking to buy is a non-restricted class meaning you only have to wait 9 months for your Canadian license. Enjoy!

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

(L1) May a licensed dealer who does not have an importer's license make an occasional importation? [Back]

Yes. A licensed dealer may make an occasional importation of a firearm for a non-licensee or for the licensee's personal use (not for resale). The licensee must first submit an ATF Form 6, Part I to ATF for approval. The licensee may then present the approved Form 6 and completed ATF Form 6A to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Contact the Bureau of ATF, Firearms and Explosives Imports Branch for forms, or download them from the ATF Web page at www.atf.gov.

Don't I wish. Our Pal Klintax put the kibosh on our Chinese noisemakers for reasons I still don't understand.

Why hasn't some retailer brought them here to the States, damn a 7.62 No. 4.  Looks like they have modified it a bit, the barrel is installed like a Savage which means you can change barrels in a snap and in diffent calibers.  Chrome-lined barrels too.  Where can I buy one?

Not the same thing but close, and right here in the US, and unlike those commercial ones this one has some history:

www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Enf-2A__Enfield_2A_.308_NATO_7.62x51_Rifles.html
$169.95

Just please don't bubba it.

A bubbaed version of the same thing with shortened barrel, and number 5 type flash suppressor, available with, or without the bayonet lug:

www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Enfield_2A_.308_NATO_Carbine.html
$229.95

Bubba's already destroyed the history on this one, so have fun.

ETA: I guess they couldn't decide whethor to market them (incorrectly) as .308 Winchester, or (correctly) 7.62 Nato, so they compromised, and called them .308 Nato.
