Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - What's a good general Hard Disk repair utility?

My computer is acting flaky, and locks up.  When CHKDSK runs on startup (after crash),  it locks at 82 percent of the first check.

What do you fellas and gals use?

I had the problem of my PC locking up or taking forever during CHKDSK.
I boot up in safe-mode and it works fine after that.

Hehe, I'd like a little better solution than booting in safe mode.
