I'm looking to buy one off a coworker

It has already had the hybrid battery replaced

Anything to watch out for with these?

What should be replaced....pretty sure it's never had much work done on it

I bought my 2004 for 4400 with 68lk on it this year.

I would not buy one of the first gens.  Tons of battery problems and cat problems.

.
They are crap and not worth a Penny. You could not pay me to take one for $1000. If you buy it, you WILL be sorry!

What Do You MEAN by 1st gen?

It's the last body's type not the current one but the one before that

This kid has owned it since new and never had a problem with it except the battery that was replaced by Honda at no cost to him

I had an '03 and the transmission kept going out.  Prevalent problem with the CVT.  That seems to be a continuing issue with them for several years after that.

Dealer replaced mine at about 92k miles (with a dealer rebuild), 2 years or 24k miles warranty on it if I recollect correctly.  Guess fucking what? 1 WEEK after the 2 years was up, it starts to act up.  Dealer says yeah, we can put another rebuild in it for you, but it'll be $4000.  Car was worth maybe $3000. So screw that, got a Prius.

Sister had an 2005 or 06, same kind of problem.

Run away, fella.

I have one that is a manual so I avoided all the CVT problems.

The cats have problems and having to be replaced all the time.  I think thats why I am getting the intermittent CEL.

The battery has huge problems.  My IMA light keeps coming on and off.  I think its due to the heat.

They are all types of problems I would get a Prius or something else if you want a hybrid.

I owned an 06 and an 09 civic ex, a manual and an automatic. Both were a far cry from what Honda was in the 90's. I personally would never buy another.

My wife has a 2007 Honda Civic.  The longer we own it the less I like Honda.  Especially when my friggin FORD Fusion is putting the thing to shame in the reliability department.

Honda Hybrids suck.  Their batteries fail literally 10X more often than Toyota hybrids, look it up.

Battery replaced?  Great, that only bought some time.  It will fail again.

Oh, and every replacement battery on the market (including factory replacements) aren't new, but only refurbished.

<--- Angry '04 Civic Hybrid owner, wouldn't piss on it if it was on fire.  Fuck Honda with a sideways cactus.
