I'm planning on buying a rifle, and already own a Colt MT6731 16" HBAR II.

Please help me out on selecting a rifle; have around $1500.00.

Thanks!

Bushmaster M17S
HK91
Springfield SAR-8
FN-Fal

And the ultimate in the price range:

Armalite AR-10T

Well maybe you'd have to spend a smigen more for the HK, Armalite, or Fal but they'd be worth it. You could always go clone though.

Well with that price point can only reflect my wishes for what I hope to be purchases in the not to distant future.

Firstly, a Robinson Arms M-96 Expeditionary Carbine. Sticking to the next step in practical urban carbines. Hopefully it will mutate as much as it's 1st cousin the AR-15 and you will have as much flexibility in configuring it as the AR-15 - talking addons but quick barrel change out and belt feed is prettty kewl- quick change barrels...uhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm (done in a Homer Simpsonesque voice)!!!!

A DSA Carbine would be pretty damn kewl too! Both of these are on my future purchase list. Submitted for your approval...

Is there any site around for the FN-Fal?

Thanks for the quick responses so far?

Here you go, for $1400.00 you can have this DSA SA-58 Lightweight Carbine, which retails for $1795.00.

It's 99%, fired 300 rounds, has a stainless upper, very nice shooter, and hands down better than any FAL from FN, Steyr or whoever else you can think of. DSA SA-58's are the finest FAL rifle ever produced. I'm sure some will argue.....but then again they're entitled to be wrong. Amendment numero uno.

For that cash you have a ton of choices.  Many already quoted here.  You may want to get a CETME while their still pretty cheap.
I would have to say AR-10 or a tricked out REM 700.

Whatever you get, enjoy it. That's the important part!

For $1500 you could get:

An [green]Armalite[/green] M15A2, a bunch of 20 and 30 rounders, a Beta-C and 3 cases of Q3131A.

A few months back, I was looking for either an AR-10, or a FAL.
I heard many conflicting opinions on the AR-10.
Many said it was fussy and unreliable.
After owning several fussy and unreliable AR-15's, I avoided the AR-10.
I haven't heard anything bad about FAL's.
Just like AK's, some are better than others, but they ALL go BANG when you squeeze the trigger...
Mine is an "gear logo" Imbel.
It's had about 750 rounds through it so far.
NOT ONE JAM.

In a nutshell...

Consider the FAL's
I'm glad I bought one.

Get a DSA StG58A for $1000, then buy alot of the cheap, but really nice FAL mags at $5-10 ea, and some ammo for $1500. Check out the best FAL site at www.l1a1.com.

Don't go with a CAI built FAL. More negatives than the cheap price.

My opinions and experiences of course.
