I've been thinking about doing this thread for a while. Subnet's sound engineer thread inspired me to actually do it.

No contest. The 70's were horrible.
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:23:25 PM EDT
I voted the 70's, but only because people didn't recognize the genius of Leif Garrett and properly immortalize him.
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:24:00 PM EDT
70s disco...there was some good rock come out of the 70s though, lots come to think of it.
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:24:42 PM EDT
The 70's were crap, the 80's weren't much better.

I think my sister had a Leif Garrett poster. Or maybe it was Shawn Cassidy. Can't remember.

The 70s were bad.

I'm pretty sure today's horse crap is worse.

I will be odd man out, there was good music in every decade
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:30:20 PM EDT
The 70s were a cultural nadir. Some good things came out of the period, but much of it was dreck. After all, it was in this decade we elected Jimmy Carter.

Agreed, and there seems to be a lot more of it getting a lot more airtime.

The 90s is when it started to suck.

Thanks Nirvana.

90s music is horrible - generally speaking. YMMV.

Cheers!

Now

Now. At least musicians once played actual instruments, instead of DJ Fuckhead 's shitty remixing of other, more talented people's stuff.

(Collectively )  How anyone can have the opinion that music produced during the 70's is worse than the crap produced nowadays is completely beyond me.

Good music died around 1990 - 1992. The 70's and 80's were awesome in the rock/metal world.

Right here. Right now.

70's radio sucked. I found some awesome music from then 10-15 years later. The Stooges Raw Power alone redeemed the whole decade.

Today's music sucks. If you want to call it music.

Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:45:21 PM EDT
The 70's weren't bad. Sure there was disco but there was also a hell of a lot of good music that topped the charts. Nowadays anything that gets any play time is total crap.
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:46:55 PM EDT
The worst?

760-770.

The 70's were great for music.

As was about the first half of the 80's.

90's sucked.  I was there.  Believe me.

I came here to post this.
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:57:40 PM EDT
Aside from Disco (some of which isn't bad at all) the '70s produced some fantastic rock bands.  Far better than anything those self-absorbed hippies produced during their weed-fueled music festivals in the '60s.
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:58:53 PM EDT
The evolution of Rap/Hip Hop makes the 80's far worse than any era before it.

Link Posted: 9/3/2015 7:59:09 PM EDT
When did gangsta rap make its appearance?
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 8:00:02 PM EDT
Steely Dan alone is enough to condemn the 70's.

Most of what has occurred in the past decade isn't music, just clicks and whistles.
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 8:00:51 PM EDT
Massive fail!

The correct answer is NOW! The shot being made and played is by far the worst ever!
Link Posted: 9/3/2015 8:01:26 PM EDT

I haven't heard a decent piece of music since June of 1981.

And that sucked.

Link Posted: 9/3/2015 8:03:20 PM EDT
Whichever decade that (c)Rap was invented.
