Going to Las Vegas for three days in December (staying at the Bellagio).

I don't gamble (at least with anything other than my life).  So what can you fellow ARF.commers recommend?

Hookers and blow...

+1 on the Dam. Be sure to go by the cafe there and order a damburger.

Lots of cool shows. Most of the Cirque du Soleil shows are pretty neat.

The light show on Fremont Street

If you have your own transportation:

Red Rock Canyon

Valley of Fire

No thanks.  My travel companion might object as well (at least I hope she would).

Isn't there a range in Vegas that rents full-auto.  I was thinking about taking my friend since she's never shot a gun before.  What better way than to go full-auto the first time.

I was invited to come out there with some old friends who go to Vegas regularly.
I asked them the same question...what is there to do.

I am married and dont cheat, so hookers were out.
I dont drink so the clubs didnt appeal to me.
I dont gamble, to casino hopping was out.
The food is apparently no cheaper than it is here, so that wasnt a draw.

About the only thing I could come up with would have been the shows, and beyond that, just the novelty of being in Vegas.

I didnt go...maybe someday, just doesnt seem like a place that I would have a lot to do at.

That is where you are dead wrong. Go to The Speedway on I-15 and Cheyenne, $4.99 Prime Rib 24 hours a day... and it is damn good Prime Rib also.

the bellagio is a nice place. there's some good shopping there (if you're not metro, you won't dig the stores though) and i think caesar's palace has good shopping as well. i saw the blue man group when i was there. i highly recommend it. don't gamble too much, and enjoy the scenery.

A HUGE +3 on renting a fullauto.  I've been there twice.  Rented a Tommy gun the first time, and an MP5 the second time.  Next time I go, it's gonna have to be the SAW.

No one has mentioned the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  It's not on the strip but close to it.  It is a fun place and they usually have some good bands there.

Or....

PARTAY with Bed_Head and crew!!!
The dam, Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon (great rock climbing), Lost City Museum, Valley of Fire, besides the productions shows there are the exhibits such as the Guggenheim Museum at Venetian or Bellagio (I'm having a brain fart even though I've been there), there's an Ansel Adams exhibit at one of the hotels I'd LOVE to see, and if you look OFF strip there are some very good food deals out there....

The shopping is probably the same as shopping in any major city (sorry Dawn!), anything on the Strip is overpriced, and anything Downtown is dirty (including the $5 crack ho's)  You will find silly things like cosmic blacklit bowling, etc. if you're into the goofy stuff.

And YES, there are a few places here that let you rent full auto if you don't live in a free state and need a fix.  Check out the NV HTF.

NEGATIVE on The Gun Store.  BTDT.

Much preferred American Shooting Supplies at 3440 Arville Street.

Bigger (more lanes) shooting range, just as many FA toys, & more user friendly.

We had a GREAT time with an MP5, WWII Sten gun, Thompson's & an Uzi on the line.

+1 on the buffet at Bellagio.

+1 on the casino at the MGM.  (hint: fun to watch the "sportin' girls" walk in through the lobby, all holding a cellphone to one ear and lookin' like they're on a mission!  Well, I guess they were.)

#1.  Rent a a car.

#2.  Drive that car as far away from vegas, (with a small v) as you can.

#3.  Drop rental car at some other location, book flight to anywhere else.

That advice should provide the perfect Vegas getaway.

Ya know, when I see a thread on arfcom with a title such as this, the question is not if somebody has suggested hookers & blow, but how many times.

I, myself, haven't been to Vegas before, but any desert region has to be good for shooting.  I wonder if you can get a helicopter/plane tour of the strip at night.  I imagine that would be cool.

I was going to recommend the Marshmallow Factory tour, but I see it is not offered anymore due to factory construction.

If you are a Star Trek fan go to see Star Trek, The Experience at The Hilton.

+1 on Valley of Fire. They have a web site of place on the web. At the turn off for the road there is an Indian store the sells fireworks, booze and cigs.

For me it isn't gambling.  Gambling implies that you have a chance of winning.  Not me, haven't ever won squat. I think I am one of those guys eternally damned to pay for a small section of the neon lights out front.  Note I say small section.  I don't buy electricity and light bulbs for nobody.

Thanks for all of the input.  I won't be partaking of the hookers, blow or easy marriage (still working on getting out of the last one).

I've decided I'm going to try and track down Chuck Liddell and see if I can take a full power shot from him.  If I can't find him, I try and find Squatdog.
