My wife recently took a new job (thank you economy) as a home health care physical therapist. She has her CWP, and normally carries her S&W M&P .40 compact in her purse. She will be in scrubs as a uniform working in these peoples home. Some of the areas of town she may work in will be a little shady. Besides the shady parts of town, you never know what could happen in one of these peoples homes.

I don't want to get into the whole "defense in a persons castle" conversation, I know there would be huge legal issues here. I just want her safe

How should she carry, still in the purse or ankle holster? Scrubs don't have any belt system that could be worn, and she is not a fan of the belt carry.

If you agree with the ankle holster, what would you recommend for her gun?

Thanks for the help ladies

i would recommend using the purse.  this because i also work within the health system and our company says that when you are on the job you are to abide by all the guide lines. to have a fire arm on your person while dealing with patents can get you fired and is a risk to yourself and the patients. this even so with the home health folks.

I agree with Scarlet. Check out the pinned threads at the top of the forum. It has some great links for purses meant for concealed carry.

Another option is a QUALITY belly band.  I used a Bianchi Ranger for years.  Gun spare mags cash handcuffs would all fit and it was no more difficult to get used to than an IWB.  Scrubs with an elastic band and adding a tie would probably be the way to go if this looks like an option.

That's what I thought. Smart Carry or ankle holster.

I'd try smartcarry.  I don't like off body carry.  Smartcarry doesn't require a belt.

It needs to be on her person. She's not going to be carrying her purse at all times. My wife did home health speech therapy for awhile when she got out of school.
