After from from 3 different Mustangs, I'm a little mod crazy when I get a new vehicle.

I picked up an 05 F150 XLT 4x4 with the 5.4 engine. It's got skid plates, tow package, 3.73 gears, bakflip HD cover + tool box, FX4 wheels and 275/65-18 tires.

Exhaust is a must. What's a setup that sounds good, but doesn't drone much in these trucks? Right now I just have the muffler disconnected for the lulz. It's not bad, but doesn't have any tone. A 2.5'' leveling kit will also be going on soon. What about a bull bar and fog lights? Anyone? I would like some all terrain tires, but these were just put on in December and have 200 miles on them when they're warrantied for 70k.

Then the obvious answer is:

Long horns on the hood and a coon pizzle with some fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror...

First thing I'd do is to take off those running boards.

I love that year Ford truck!  Look at Pro Comp's light bar for this rig; I wish they made one for my Chevy.  For exhaust, I have the Flowmaster Super 44 on my 5.3L Chevy and I LOVE the sound it makes.  I have the one with the dual exit and they dump above the rear axle.  If I had big tips exiting out the back or sides it would sound even meaner!  With the leveling kit, you can roll 35" tires.  Look for a cold-air intake from K&N, Air-raid, or any of the others out there.  Also, a programmer would be a must as well.  I run the Superchips Cortex and love the versatility of it!

Leveling kit, new wheels and tires, and new steps.

I don't understand the love for leveling kits on pickup trucks. The rear is higher than the front because of the vehicle's intended purpose (hauling cargo) so that it levels out with extra load.

Form > Function for those who like them.  Most of the kits wear out ball joints faster too as a FYI.

If it were mine I'd do the following

Sams club all weather mats ($25-50 for a set of 4.  Have had mine for 8 years great value and I love them)

Projector headlights and 5K HID's ($500ish depending on if you do the conversion yourself, have someone do it, or buy aftermarket lights)

LED/cathode under dash lighting ($30ish, get what you need from oznium.com Wont have a vehicle without this anymore.  Great for finding something you drop while driving at night)

RIGID or knockoff LED light bar mounted to grille or bumper ($100-500, better output than off-road lights and less draw)

HD Bumpers front and rear with sliders if you're gonna do any serious wheeling/off-roading (figure $3K here...maybe more)

rear helper air bags and tow controller (if hauling/towing heavy things often)
