I'm kind of hemming an hawing on this one right now.

I really dislike scopes over 4x, and scopes that are incredibly long.

My favorite at the moment is a 2x20 Swift Reliant I have set up on a lever gun, but the eye relief is too long to mount it on the MVP.

My next favorite (I'm ready for the flaming) is a BSA 2.5x20 I have on a .22 rifle, it fits the rifle perfect and is very light, but I'm afraid a centerfire would just kill one over time.

Any recommendations in the compact and low magnification category? Just something with a decent reputation that will pull hunting detail and enjoy it.

What range are you looking to hit at?  A 2x scope isn't going to be much help hitting a six inch target at 1000 meters.

300 yards is the longest I'll ever see with it.

Most deer and coyotes I've shot have been under 100.

99% of the scopes around here are 3-9x, why not get one of those?

I have a 1-4x swfa on my 223 Troy pump, it's a decent scope. I haven't shot it past 400 or 500 yards

I have about 5 in my pile of stuff upstairs. They are just too long and too heavy for my taste. Very fuddly looking too.

LOL at "too heavy".  My Vortex Gen II Razor weighs 46oz.

Do you even acog bro?  I just want to see one on an mvp But I will agree with you on the BSA. I had one on my savage fvsr and loved it. Also had one of the 17hmr bsa scopes on my 17 mach ii and it was perfect. In your shoes I would get a Leupold Rifleman or Redfield to match that rifle

Interesting.

I loved my compact 3x from those guys, I wish it was available without the built in AR mount.
