What range are you looking to hit at? A 2x scope isn't going to be much help hitting a six inch target at 1000 meters.

99% of the scopes around here are 3-9x, why not get one of those?
I have a 1-4x swfa on my 223 Troy pump, it's a decent scope. I haven't shot it past 400 or 500 yards |

I put an leupold mark ar 3-9 fire dot on mine. I love it

 But I will agree with you on the BSA. I had one on my savage fvsr and loved it. Also had one of the 17hmr bsa scopes on my 17 mach ii and it was perfect. In your shoes I would get a Leupold Rifleman or Redfield to match that rifle
