I keep finding these dam things in my basement and the Spyders all look exactly like this one! It has huge fangs! I also keep seeing these centipeeds. The spyders are about the size of a dime and are very red in color and the centipeeds are about 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch long and are shiny red in color.

I bet the spiders are poisonous but what about the creepy centipeeds?

Can anyone tell me what these are? I live in northern Colorado by the way. Thank you!

The spider is called a Woodlouse Spider.  They specialize in preying on sow bugs and are harmless to humans.

As to them centipede things... no idea.

Thanks! You sure on the spider? It has some BIG BIG fangs that did not really show up good in the pictures. I bombed my basement and I keep finding many of these spiders dead even after I vaccume.

Where did you find the info on the woodlouse? thank you very much!

almost ALL spiders a poisonous.  the woodlouse isn't poisonous enough to do you harm though.  might hurt if it did bite, probably like a bee sting or something.  we have them in MT, and i kill them in the house but outside i let them be.

the centepede just looks like a normal everyday centipede to me.  kindof creepy buy harmless.

I had to regoogle the website but I think I found it.

Spider linky - clicky here

I found one of these on one of my window sills once and became curious.  Because they are one freaky lookin' spider.  I think i'd rather deal with sowbugs than the spider, even if the spider is harmless.

According to the page linked to above, it is a crab spyder, not a woodlouse spyder, the names are under the photos, not above.

Centipedes are venomous, but the Colorado variety isn't really dangerous. Probably about the same as a bee sting.

I don't care how well you tucked in your mosquito netting, those suckers would get in anyway.

They were so bad on one field problem, somebody went and got some wicked bad poison to use on them.  One of the privates from supply later on grabbed the bucket the poison had been in, and used it to shag some ice from the field mess.  Made her sicker than shit, and she got med-evaced to Tripler.
