I really would like to get an HK type MP5.  I do want a decent quality weapon not junk.

You cant buy an MP5 unless youre in a class III state.  Youre talking about HK94s and clones.

This is all you can get(if you can actually find one) without going NFA.

As short as you want, IF you pay the $200.00 for the tax stamp.
Right now, a MP 5 (select fire) is going for about $14000.00 - $16000.00, in 9mm.
If you could find a transferable in .40 S&W, that would be about $25000.00 due to the 86 ban.

Ohio Rapidfire is building quality HK clones.  Heck, I'm gonna get a reciever from him to build my MP5SD host gun up with for my HK sear.  I currently own a MP5K with a Flemming sear.  Way fun!  Yes, a real MP5 is getting up to about $15K.

You can get a HK94 for around $4000 or a little less.  Then you could SBR it on a Form 1 and have a semi-auto copy of a MP5 for less than $5k.  This is a great "plinker" and is a lot of fun with a suppressor (silencer) attached.

A real MP5 will run $13k+.

I guess I should have been more specific.  I don't want a full auto MP5.  I want a semi-auto that looks like it because I don't have $10,000+ to spend on it.  As for barrel lenght...isn't there a way to legally shorten the barrel if you get something from the ATF?

Thanks for all the quick replies

No.
Well yea. But you will have an SBR and still have to pay $200 and have a Form 4.

Yes - it's called and SBR Tax Stamp.  Costs $200 plus a bunch of paperwork.

And the rifle can't leave the state unless you notify the BATF in advance - in writing (that's of course assuming your state allows NFA firearms).

Unless you're willing to go through that hassle ($200 is nothing - considering the clone will cost your $1200 or so) you must have a minium barrel length of 16".

Yea, go SBR.  Heck Todd at Ohio RF will SBR it for you and send it to your SOT.  Just gotta buy it on a form 4 then.  Don't know if PA is an NFA state, though.

Your talking about dropping a lot of money for a plinking gun..Perhaps you mean a 94?
Don't buy a Bobcat, even if they pay you to take it, Same with Vulcan.
If you don't buy Ohio Rapid Fire then.....

I was just at Ohio Rapid Fire's Site.    Who manufacturers their guns?  What is the quality like.

Just do a search here..  They build em up. And if you need more go to www.1919a4.com and read about how ORF does the 1919.  He is pretty much the cats ass right now for clones...
