What is with all the Ford ceremonies?

[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What is with all the Ford ceremonies?

I know the man was the President, but I don't think Ronald Reagan even got 1/5 of what Ford is getting. So far he has had 4 ceremonies and now I'm watching a 21 aircraft fly over... Does anyone else think this was a bit weird?

State Funeral
Local Funeral
Internment.

Reagan had all the same stuff. It is a Presidential State Funeral, pretty much standard stuff.

I remember watching the Reagan Internment on NBC.

Yeah they did. His state funeral in particular was on every network plus the cable networks.

These guys were Presidents of the United States. We've only had 43 including GWB.

Then your TV must have been turned off. Reagan's various ceremonies were all I saw for about 3 days straight.

Yeah, the Reagan stuff was all over tv constantly. And I watched as much of it as possible, just as I did this time with Ford's funeral. To see all of the military precision in these ceremonies never ceases to amaze me.

BTW, anyone else notice how much one of his sons looks like fomer President Ford when he was younger?

This funeral was not as elaborate as Reagon's. Ford's funeral was pretty low key as far as state funerals.

For whatever differences, each President has a hand in planning his own funeral (assuming they dont die in office, ie JFK). That's why Ford was the first ever to lie in state in the Congressional hallway.

Pretty impressive, though.
