Friend of mine had this at his house, his cousin gave it to him but it doesnt fit him. I thought it was pretty cool(kinda heavy) and asked him how much he wanted for it.  He sold it to me for $50...did I do good?

What do these things go for? From my understanding it is not body armor but a FLAK jacket or something like that.

Flack jacket. Won’t stop a bullet, but might come in handy if your house comes under an arty attack!

You did well. It is not designed to stop rifles, but I have first hand knowledge that it will stop 9mm most of the time. Out of ten rounds one passed thru a vest we shot when I was in, ten years ago.

Go to ebay and search for usgi vest.

local Army Navy store had those for $15, and you got a free pair of wool glove liners. They appeared unissued.

Who told you that?
I hope you are joking, "Armor" as you call it is not outlawed in California.  I have at least 4 vests with panels.

It is an added charge in California if you commit a crime while wearing a bullet resistant vest.
Simply having one is in no way against the law.  Robbing a bank, (already a bad thing) while wearing a vest I guess is even more of a bad thing.

Wow the Legislature actualy killed that bill before voting on it.  Sory my news ear is a little old. I left California when they were trying to do that ban. I just figured they would adopt it, and make posession of armor a crime. But I guess they passed some form of it.

My point being. I was teasing. Kalifornia is silly on most gun laws, IE 10 round fixed mag lowers.

His vest is OK. I would not throw it away for SHTF. He did not have to drive any where to get it. He can always spraypaint it any color he wants it to be. Or buy a cover for it for 15$ and sew it on permanantly.

It will help stop pistol, and secondary penetration of vehicle interiors. IE hang it over your bucket seat upright, or put it over your thighs when your driving in a SHTF situation. Put it in the closet and keep it for a rainy day.

RUMOR: The PASGT body armor will not stop ballistic threats.
FACT: Yes it can. Several independents tests have shown that the vest has the ability to stop a variety of bullets. The following are results of tests, but are in no way meant to be construed as a guarantee. The results have not been validated by the seller personally.

FROM 10 Feet:
9mm, 115gr: stopped
357 Mag, 125 gr: stopped
357 Mag, 158 gr: stopped
357 Mag, 160 gr: stopped
41 Mag, 210 gr: stopped
41 Mag, 240 gr: stopped
