Right click on the icon, then left click on properties.

Right-click on it...choose properties...what does that information tell you...such as what is the path of the shortcut (which might show as "Target"). For example, my Quicken icon shows "C:\Program Fiels\Quicken\qw.exe."

That looks like the icon I get when I am downloading something.
That icon shows up just before the download is finished. Sometimes when one gets interupted the icon is already there and stays for a while. Try restarting windows and see if it goes away. Either that or it means youre gay.

I ran across a icon that looked like the windows icon for an executeable program, and it was named "~.exe". Turned out to be a backup of your Outlook Express address book. It's done every time you add to or delete entries.
Might be what you're talking about. |

My anti-virus program deleted one of those the other night. ~.exe I mean. I did a search and came up with all sorts of answers. Rip |
