I have an icon on my desktop, that looks like the Microslop Windows icon, with the '~' thing under it. I cant seem to open it, anyone know what it is? Ops

Right click on the icon, then left click on properties.

Right-click on it...choose properties...what does that information tell you...such as what is the path of the shortcut (which might show as "Target"). For example, my Quicken icon shows "C:\Program Fiels\Quicken\qw.exe."

I ran across a icon that looked like the windows icon for an executeable program, and it was named "~.exe". Turned out to be a backup of your Outlook Express address book. It's done every time you add to or delete entries.

Might be what you're talking about.

My anti-virus program deleted one of those the other night. ~.exe I mean. I did a search and came up with all sorts of answers.
