What is the lowest amount of ammo in the magazine or cylinder that you will still carry? Where you you draw the line when it comes to how many bullets the gun will hold? Personally I feel that a single shot .22 in the pocket is better than a .44 left in the drawer at home but I still want a gun that has at least 8 rounds on tap of a decent caliber. I own a S&W 642 that holds 5 shots of .38 +P and feel this is a fantastic handy little gun but I always find myself carrying something bigger because I prefer a higher capacity. What is the minimum round count you guys want?

5 in a Wheel Gun, 6+1 in an Auto.

I often carry just a 5 shot S&W Airweight in my pocket.

For some reason, I feel like there's a big difference between the 6+1 I carry and a 6-shot revolver that I wouldn't carry.

It's probably not rational.

I voted 12 cause 15 wasn't on the list.  Which is really 15+1, plus 2 spare mags.

Faster reloads?

I voted 5 because i sometimes carry a 5 shot revolver. Mostly I carry a Glock 19 mostly

1911 is much flatter and concelable imo, also faster reloads.  Perfectly rational.

I'll throw a J-Frame in my pocket to go out and check the mail or a quick run to the store.

Me too. 5 minimun.

It would be 5 since I occasionally carry a S&W 642.

I prefer to carry 10+1 in my G19 that is cut down to take G26 mags.

There was a time when I had to carry in a place that it wasn't a good idea to carry.  The only thing that fit the bill was a two shot derringer.  Amazingly, that is not an option of the poll.

8+1 Sig P220

I usually carry 8+1 and I'm fine with that, but at times I also carry 7+1 and I'm also fine with that.....
If I think I'm going to a bad place I'll carry spare mag pouches with no expectations to use them, but just in case (very very rare).

How can you draw a line(I carry an XD45 service). 13+1 .45acp.
Extra mag. plus my carry gun is 27 rds. of .45 acp. goodness.

7+1 is as small as I'll go (PPK/S - for when the USP is too big/bulky).

Normally carry 15+1.

Don't own a single wheelie.

two spare mags

I usually carry a 1911 so 7 or 8 +1 is my standard. I've picked up an Airweight the times when I used to leave the .45 at home, so my minimum is now 5.

The important thing is to have a gun, ammo count is secondary. I would love to have something belt fed, but it is almost as impractical as carrying a cop.

I used to carry a 6 shot .38.

Lately it's been my 6+1 shot P64 9x18. I just love that little gun.

I need to get a good holster and belt for my G30 and step it up to 10.

Not understanding your question.
The question was "what is lowest capacity that you will compromise with when it comes to concealed carry".

Nothing less than 10 in a magazine for me.

My usual carry is 7 rounds in a 1911, but I have been known to carry 5 in my 642 airweight when the mood strikes me.

I don't feel under-gunned with either.

7+1 in my Sig P232 (and a spare seven in the pocket). BTW: The P232 is what I carry for dress and as a primary BUG.

8+1 in my EDC Sig P220 (and two eight rounders on the belt and one eight in the pocket)

8+1 in my Colt Commander (and two 10's on the belt and one eight in the pocket)

If I carry a Revolver as a second BUG (five or six in the gun, and three six round speed strips)

I could go on and on, but you get the idea.

Love the 442.

I guess since I have carried a 1911 for so many years(20 yrs) with 7rds. why wouldn't you carry a gun of equal (reliability)quality with more ammo.
I love my Colts but do like the "More ammo available" option. Maybe I don't understand the question but more is sometimes better.
ETA: OK I get it, sorry a little slow I guess. I would carry a 6rd. .380 as a minimum.

I carried a 5 shot J frame for years off duty.  But over the last few years LEO's have been followed home or ambushed in the parking lot at work by gang bangers.  I won't carry less than 13+1.

I carry a full size Glock 20.

If I think my clothing won't conceal it, I change clothing.

The only place I don't take it is to work, because of their no weapons policy.

It's amazing to me that this isn't a more popular configuration.  I have an XD9 Sub-compact and an XD45 Compact (SC is 3", C is 4", but the shorter grip), and they carry damn near the same, but the 45's so much nicer to shoot with the full-size frame, and with full-sized mags(with the little sleeve they make) feels the same.  I just don't understand why there aren't more factory configs out there like that.

I assume you mean total, so I say 7.  P32, P64, small 1911, all 6+1.

The only reason I carry a revolver is when I need a .44 Magnum.  If I feel the need for more than .44 Magnum, I'll bring a rifle.

No love for the COP 357 Derringer?  It only holds 4, but they're .357 Magnum.
