a bunch of idiots are standing out in a line by my house for a free burrito...
I had the crap before and it was garbage...and expensive garbage at that!! |
|
Because it's free.
You could give away used diapers, and people would line up for them, in Phoenix if you advertised enough. |
|
Good Chipotle kicks ass. But, there is a lot of gargage in the world.

General » General Discussion » What is the deal deal with Chiplote?
The deal deal with Chiplote..it is good stuff stuff. Compared to Taco Bell at least. |
|
I don't know about you but I have had Chipotle from 4 different locations and all of them were very good. But this was in L.A. I don't know how it is elsewhere but I imagine that they like all chain restaurants have their good and bad locations.

You nailed it. It's expensive. I learned a long time ago that, if you ask a phenomenally high price for something and say it's the best... a lot of people will buy it. And most will pretend they like it in order not to look stupid. if we're talking about food... that's a subjective thing and many WILL like it, and will pay top dollar, no matter what it is. It's the herd mentality at work. |

Wow! That is a real recommendation, I think that I will rush out and PARGETICAL BARF! |

Ya, it's expensive... and it isn't THE BEST. But it's good and it's not that much more (I spend about 1-2$ more) then what I'd spend to get full somewhere like Taco Bell or Del Taco. |

Other than making it yourself, where can I go to get better hot chocolate than Starbucks? (serious question) |

I agree its good value for the cost and way out of Taco Hells league.. I think Chipotle is a much better than 'moes southwest grill' - but only because I like to pick out exactly what i want on it, not the preset choices Moes offers.. Brian |

The original Chipotle location is a couple blocks from my house. I go there a lot.
ETA: Now you people know where I live. ![]() |

+1 Freebirds is truely the food of the gods. Chipotle sucks ass. Their steak is too fuckin spicey and I detest cilantro rice. |

As long as he stays away from the carnitas he should be good. ![]() |

There are far too many GOOD restaurants staffed by *actual Mexicans* around here for there to be any reason to eat at the "Subway" of Mexican food. The new Chipotle that opened here is mostly deserted, but the Burrito shops are always packed.
My favorite place is in downtown Oakland, about a block west of city hall, called Happy Burrito. It is aptly named. -Troy |

No, I think they put crack in the burritos. There's no way I should be able to eat a whole one, but once I start, I can't stop and am sad when it's all gone. |

This is true, even in Maryland. Chipotle sucks ass, is way overpriced and yes, is owned by McDonalds. |

Best mexican food in St Pete, FL. Not saying much though. I would settle for El Chicos ![]() ![]()
It's hardly spicey at all ![]() |

For that price I just get the real deal.
Chipotle is not bad, but it's not that good either. |

Interesting. I first had Chipotle in San Diego. It was doing brisk business. I would guess that there are plenty of mom and pop burrito shops around there. Del Taco seemed to be doing brisk business as well. That said, I like Chipotle for what it is, but I don't consider it Mexican food. Our favorite Mexican restaurant is a mom and pop shop like you describe. The owner admitted to us, privately, that he ate at Taco Bell from time to time, but he didn't consider it Mexican food. I don't like Taco Bell, but I agree with him. |

Interestingly, I have noticed a long time ago that putting things down is the easiest way for someone to portray themselves as a "free thinker." It's very easy to put something down, like you say it's generally about personal taste. If you put something down that is popular, you can even position yourself as "anti-establishment." I eat what I like, to hell with what anyone else thinks. I like Chipotle for what it is. I don't like Qdoba's Mexican Grill. I think their food tastes bland. |
|

I eat at Chipotle about 5x a week. The Quesadillas are huge, not on the menu and only cost $2.25 a piece. I get 2 of them and a side order of chicken ($1.50) to split between the two with my girlfriend.......Then we get chips and salsa and a side of guacamole and it ends up being about $9.......put some Chipotle pepper sauce on the Quesadilla and they rock......+ free lemons for your water, and all organic food..... No brainer.....
Chipotle is the shit..... much better then Qdoba which is just taco bell with a bowtie.... |
|
Chipotle is a type of pepper. The reason they have become so popular is all the Chipotle pepper farms in the world are owned by Dick Cheney.
It's all Cheney's doing!! ![]() That's the REAL deal with Chipotles. |
|
The one and only time I have ever had Chipotle, I was three sheets to the wind. It was free, but not very good. It was my birthday, and I was sitting on a couch with a girl. I thought it would be a good idea for me to learn how to use chop sticks at the same time! One of the best birthdays ever, but that doesn’t make the Chipotle any better!

Generally speaking, chipotle in English refers to any smoked chile pepper. The Spanish word chipotle is a contraction of chilpotle in the Náhuatl language of the Aztecs, where chil referred to the hot pepper and potle was derived from poctli, meaning smoked. The word was apparently reversed from Náhuatl, where it originally was spelled pochilli. Other early spellings in Mexico are tzilpoctil, tzonchilli, and texochilli.
The most commonly smoked chiles are jalapeños, named for the city of Jalapa in the state of Veracruz. They are also known in Mexico as cuaresmeños, or Lenten chiles. In Puebla, Central Mexico, and Oaxaca, jalapeños are known as huachinangos, while in coastal Mexico and Veracruz they are called chiles gordos ![]() |
