Probably has been asked before, but asked in the context of the recent thread about the ugliest gun.

My first thought is the Dragunov SVD.

Yours?

I think either the Dragunov or an AK with good furniture.

The G36 or the Sig 550 come to mind.

I'm partial to many AR-15 variations, particularly flat tops with a SIR or KAC rail system.  Especially with either an aimpoint or an ACOG on top.  See Green's AR above.

Then there are the SPRs.  Oh, yeah!

I like the Barret M82 also.

I sure do like the classics.  I'd gladly trade my smaller testical for a pristine, authentic, unissued WWII era BAR.

Damn, that is a nice looking gun. It looks like a variant of the G36, though.

This is the best looking gun ever... although fictional, it's constructed around a Thompson M1A1... many of you will recognize it from the movie Aliens and Alien 3 [:D]. This is the only surviving one from the films, and is property of an armory in the UK.

Good eye.  It is.  HK is developing it for the US military.  If all goes according to plans, it will go into service by 2005.  It is to replace both the M16 and M4.  There are multiple variants with different barrel lengths.  It's real.

I'd say a thompson for SMG, Rem 700 for long range rifle, M4 for assault rifle, and either mauser broomhandle(if it's good enough for han solo [;)]) or sig P239 for pistol.

Here's my choice.  An elegant beauty.

After that, the Krag has a similar look for a military rifle.  I was caretaking one such rifle for a friend, a pristine 1898 model manufactured in 1900, it looked unissued with 99% finish on both the metal and the wood, though the rear sight had been replaced with the later rear sight.  The bore was mirror shiney leading me to believe that while the rifle had been upgraded at one point, it was original, and either unissued or it had never seen any field time or significant range time. I'll edit in pictures if I can find them.

My vote for best goe to the venerable Glock 21.

Really hard to make a decision, but probably the FN FAL. The Dragunov SVD, and the H&K G3A4 are runners up.

Yep, but If money was no object (as the pics of the battel ships point out) It would be one of these Holland & Holland doubles, without a doubt,

In a .577 Nitro Express for only $140,000

Or a mere $75,000 for one in a .375 Rimless(.375 H&H)

I think the best looking gun is the original 3rd pattern Russian AK-47 or Chinese type 56 with milled receiver. I like guns that are extreamly reliable & rugged with crude finish
and furniture that shows lots of use.
