I google and landed on a few professional painting forums.  They liked shit that was pushing $70-100 a gallon. Plus the shit was special order.  Brands I never knew existed...etc

I'm thinking more along the lines of $40 to $50 a gallon tops.  The old dudes in town including my dad are rough estimating a 8 gallon paint purchase.

I'd like something that covers in one coat and is pretty quick curing.

This would be suggestion  pittsburg paint or Sherwin-William paint.  Unfortunately, the more expesive paint is the best. Do not buy low end cheap paint. I did that once. All the paint started peeling off with in a year.

dont give a fuck what anyone says Benjamin Moore is the MOST over priced, over rated paint available today.
Its like the Five Guys of paint.

Really, really like the Behr paint, and it gets rated  very well...

Im a commercial paint contractor... get vinyl siding

Sherwin williams as a company are a bunch of corporate idiot assholes. Behr and Benny Moore is insanely overpriced for what it actually is. My preference is Rodda/Cloverdale. Really good products for good prices and sold by a company of very good people. Take it for what its worth.

A-100 is piss water at best, it's the lowest grade builder/blow and go paint on the market, I would step it up to Sherwin Super Paint if the Op is looking for the best bang for the buck.

Sherwin Williams super paint lasts I long time and has the mold inhibitor in it if you catch one of there sales you can get it pretty cheap for what it is I'm not sure what the actual price I have an account there ang get like 25% off or something but I know they have sales sometimes where you can get 30% off. I've painted houses with it 10 years ago and they still look good when I go back to do other work for them.

I thought Benjamin Moore was sold everywhere. That's what I was advised to use, but I'm no expert.

No, it was shitty paint.  Got it from Habitat for humanities store.  It was probably donated. I use to work for Iowa paint.  I made paint.  We made high grade paint. Only sold to contractors. Went out of business in 2005. I use to paint my house with Iowa paint. All the places on the house that did not peel. Was the Iowa paint brand . Preped the surface like I always did.

You might think twice. When you see what raw materials cost. Thats not including labor.  A lot of people think you throw some raw materials together and it magicaly becomes paint.

This is what I use on all of my paint jobs.  Show a contractors license and it will cost you $27.00/gallon. There is no such creature as a one coat paint.  I prime, then two coats.  Good to go with no worries and no short cuts .

Better yet, hit the city landfill.

Most of them have a dedicated storage area for old paint.

Live in a town of 550 people.  No city dump.

And besides, I am not broke.  Just cheap.  But not $10 a gallon Van Sickle barn paint cheap. But more of a unwilling to pay a $100 a gallon for a paint from a company I've never heard of kind of cheap.

After trying to get to Diamond Vogel and Sherwinn Williams which were both closed. I landed in the lowes parking lot.

Ended up with a quart of Valspar Duramax just to see if paint would even stick to my aging engineered wood siding.   Plus I wanted to see what the color I picked out in all of 45 seconds would look like on my house.  So far I'm a fan of it.  Assuming it does not lift and fall off by tomorrow.

Do not buy cheap, buy quality.

Prep work is very important, for long lasting results.

Brighter/bolder colors are more noticeable to fading, they will all fade, some are better than other for holding up.

As long as you do not hate it get the color the wife likes, life will be easier.
