I am looking for decently priced(but dependable/accurate) will buy parts and build it if i have to. I know they're fairly expensive to buy in the first place, and that is fine, I am just not wanting to drop 2 grand on one.

Any recommended set ups? I have a Remington 700 SS SPS in .308 already but I like the maneuverability and handling of the AR platform.

also would like to include a scope with a range of 600 - 700 yards, so if you have any recommendations there too, I would greatly appreciate it.

DPMS make .308 ARs that might fit your budget.

I went DPMS AP4.  After doing that for a while, I realized that I wanted a longer barrel.  So, I swapped for a 24" SS bull.  That is the great thing about the platform.  You are only limited by your imagination and wallet.

DPMS makes better 7.62 than 5.56 for some reason.

What about the Remington R25?

I might be in the market for the same soon.

I think it's a DPMS LR-308 tweaked out a bit.  I was in the market for a LR-308 and my local shop only had a short barrel and a big honkin' 24" bull barrel so I checked Sportsman's Warehouse.  They had the perfect R25 in, 20 inch barrel, free float handguard and a riser for optics, but it appears to only come in that mossy oak camo.

Look on the EE here, a bunch of Armalite AR10s for sale cheap right now.

If I was going for a value based rifle on the DPMS pattern I might go after the Bushmaster ORC in 308.

Will the LR-308 lower by DPMS take PMAG's?

Looks like the LR-308 has a proprietary lower. that's lame.
