They bitch and whine about climate warming and offshore drilling shit. They like to eat conflict free organic foods and have a compost pile in their trendy flat. Both her and her husband look like a Patagonia catalog. Their eco shitbox, plug it car has no room to haul manly items like chainsaws and floor jacks.
Now they want your smog spewing, banged up truck to haul a flat screen back to their conflict free safe zone. This is all hypothetical. |

The only people whom I would consider loaning my truck to already have a truck so it's a moot point.
Hypothetically, I would tell them to pound sand. |
How much are they willing to pay to rent it from me? Carbon credits aren't cheap!
I dont let politics get in the way of family. Would not hesitate
I dont loan my cars to people. Then again, I dont own a pickup so I dont get asked much
For me, family is family with that sort of thing. I would give them my truck.
Family? "Keys are on the counter. See you when you get back."
Are they assholes?
That would pretty much determine my course of action. If they more or less keep to themselves about it, I'd probably help them out. If they're constantly on my ass about owning the truck and are in my face about their zealotry, they can go screw. |
Personally I'd have a hard time lending out my vehicle to anyone, family or not (my dad being the biggest exception). But I know I'm also a little weird about that kind of stuff and in the minority.
On the flip side I wouldn't ask anyone to borrow their vehicle either. If I needed a truck I'd make my own arrangements. |
Been there done that with a cousin. I was pissed cause my brother recently dented the fuck out of the bed and was in no mood to loan it again.
My response: The oil pump blew yesterday. It dumped 5 quarts of oil down a storm sewer. They never asked again… |

Make them wear your MAGA hat while they use your truck. Tell them it is the only way you will let them borrow it.
I would probably offer to drive the truck myself to deliver it but would throw in the comment that it's nice to have a truck... they would get the hint.
I don't think I'd loan out my truck but I'd cart their TV home
I said "Sure I will be glad to help"
It was my lib/soc/com/Marxist/lib/60's burnout cousin. His family has been generous with me all my life. I believe I am obligated to be equally generous. |
There used to be a bumper sticker in the 80's that went something like, yes I drive a truck, no you can't borrow it. I don't lend my truck out, period. You want to borrow my chainsaw, sure. Most people can shit $300 to replace it if needed, if they fuck it up. $30,000 tTacoma that will never be the same if it's wrecked, nope. People just don't take care of your stuff, period. Enterprise, uhaul, lowes, and Home Depot rent trucks just for that purpose.
I would help them. They are still family. If they were one bit negative or political during my visit with them I would leave and my truck would go with me. Mixed political ideologies in my family but we all have enough respect for each other to keep politics out of family get togethers.

I loaned my suv to the father in law a few years ago. I swapped for his Mercedes E350 all decked out.
I was ok with it. |
I would probably go get it for them since I don't like letting people borrow my vehicles.
I tend to go with the family is family as long as it's close family. If it's some long lost relative that I only hear from every 3 or 4 years. I'd probably say I'm busy |
Remind them just how much power, petroleum products, water, and slave labor it took to build the tv. They could always strap the tv to the top of their coal powered car.

In before poll?
My answer is "Nope!" I bought a car to suit my "movin stuff" needs and it works fine AND gets great mileage AND isn't too big. I do occasionally bribe my truckin friends to use their trucks but I see politically eye to eye with them for the most part and I do favors for them all the time. The thing is, politically, we are at war already. The reason we have been LOSING this war is because many conservatives are too blind to see it. Some people get tired of every tom dick and harry asking to use the truck and refuse. I totally get this and expect refusal most of the time. It's on them to think of the consequences of their actions before they act. Not you. |

Kinda important. In fact people that expect others to align perfectly to their own criteria are antisocial or downright insane. Hope that helps! FerFAL |

Having driven a truck most of my adult life I have come to accept the following as a universial truth:
If they are the type of person to call you up and ask to use your truck or better yet ask you to move their items for them and not insist on paying you in some way, they are are inconsiderate jackasses who see you as nothing more than a pawn in their world and will in the long run at the very least be a shitty friend and at the worst screw you over. It may take months or years but it will happen. The type of person whom you about have to beat over the head to let them let you help them will be a true friend over time. If they insist on actually paying a delivery service or such vs put you out for asking you to help them move something, go out of your way to help them. Long term, you'll find no truer friend. |
Am I really the first to post: I don't know any liberals? Kidding. If it was family and I was confident in their ability to operate a vehicle I'd let them. I'm not going to let politics separate my family. |
I would help family members.
I don't care what they believe... unless they try to impose their beliefs on me. If they were shitty about me owning a truck, I may decline. I'm sure the electronics store has a battery powered delivery truck. |
Absolutely let them borrow it.
How else are they going to view the next four years of winning in high def? The wins will be coming so fast and strong they are going to need a higher refresh rate and 1080+ resolution. This yuge new set will be color balanced to match red, white, and blue perfectly. |

I have been burnt bad by "family" way too many times to go down that path again. My close Friends are a different story. Treat your Family like Friends and your Friends like Family. |
I'd let them use it, on the condition they gas it up before bringing it back.
If they bitch about that, point them to U-Haul and tell them to rent a van. |
Nobody borrows my truck. I would offer to drive it for them, and they would have to top off the fuel tank on the way to the store.
Yeah bitch you're putting 40 gallons of diesel in it because it's running on fumes, hauling your shit ain't cheap. |
I would drive it myself. Don't let someone else drive your car.
Wear your MAGA cap and roll coal. |
I only loan my truck to family that has a truck.
My mom is perpetually pissed at me She drives a Nissan Versa. My CCLB F250 would come back destroyed. |
No one else drives my truck...ever. I would glady haul it for them tho
I'd let family use the truck, hell I'd probably drive and help set it up.
But I would also give them a little bit of shit about it too. |
Tell them they can ride along while you help if they will go to the range with you and learn how to shoot.
Put Trump stickers on truck, then tell them to have at it. Family is family. Stand up people do shit for family they wouldn't for others. |
