I see this in many posts and can't figure out what it means.

Plus signs is shorthand for saying the same thing. Kind of like ditto. The bigger the number the more emphatic the agreement.

So if I agree with someone, I say +1? If I really agree, I say +2??? If I disagree, I say -1? Is that the deal?
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 2:32:16 PM EDT
Add 1 to their post count.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 2:32:52 PM EDT
I think it started out as a joke. If the poster had nothing of value to add, they would bump their post count by one (+1). Anymore, it's come to mean that you agree. If you strongly agree, you might give it a "+1000". Negating this number has come to show disaproval with a particular comment.

If you read enough posts, you can really just figure this out yourself with contextual clues.

x + 1 + 2 - 1 - 2

or

x + 3 - 3

= X

X = unknown variable.

One person agrees +1. If a second person agrees +2, etc.

Seriously? Do other forum members practice this for the same reasons? Did it not originate on ar15.com?
