1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car.

It has a recently rebuilt 400 cu/in V8. I had the brakes, tires and oil pan replaces and I had it painted. She runs like a champ and rides like a cloud. The AC doesn't work, but with the windows down it's still quite comfortable. The only thing I need to do now is get Sirius satellite radio installed.

1979 is the year I graduated from high school.

That big, plush valour back seat would have come in handy.

That is by far the cleanest '79 I've ever seen. Wow!

I want one. That's pretty damn cool. Would I be overstepping my bounds if I asked how much you gave for it?

$1,000 for the car

$1,012 for the brake job (basically had to have the enitre brake system replaced)

$1,400 for the pain job

$625 for the tires and to get the oil pan replaced.

Total about $4,037

But, the engine was rebuilt about 2,500 miles ago and the alternator and water pump were both replaced at the same time. The transmission is in good shape, so I should be able to get another 75,000 - 100,000 miles out of her.

Engine seems a little small for that size car. Needs at least 60 more CI.

They made them with 2 different engines that year. There was a 400 and a 460. This one is definately a lower end. It had the valour, AM/FM radio only, no variable speed windshield wipers and the smaller engine. I'm not complaining though. There aren't a whole lot of these babies left. I'm proud of her.

It looks like my 83 year old mothers.  Only hers is a little newer. A real boat to drive.

It's even got a finger eating motor on the trunk lid. So far, everyone in the family has had their fingers eaten by that.

Well to quote a 70s phrase..."Go On wit Your Bad Self"

I used to borrow one of these from my Dad in the early 80's when I started driving..Chrysler New Yorker Brougham (Bro'ham)

The proper Wiseguy ride had to be black and with a leather interior. They thought it was easier to clean the blood off of leather. (It's not.) If you sit in the back of a black Lincoln search under the front seats. The piano wire may still be there.

I got my horns from this place, before I ETSed and came back East.

http://www.elpasosaddleblanket.com/sitemap.htm

Got 5' for $60.

Now all I need is a sweet ride like yours to mount them on!

And get an inheritance to blow on gas.

And I thought my '83 Crownvic Police Interceptor was bad on gas 10 years ago, boy what I wouldn't give for the $1/gal days...
