My lease is up in August, and I just received an offer for a different job in Denver. So, it looks like I will no longer be living in Boulder, unfortunately.
I just started looking at places to move, but for what I am expecting to rent, it looks like I will be paying between $1400-$1500/month. That's pretty fucking high in my book. I can go cheaper, but it seems like once one starts looking outside of the so-called 'luxury apartments' (you know, the ones that have a shitty pool, treadmill, and fax machine which magically, in their minds, becomes a spa, gym, and office center), you are automatically looking at rats nests built in the 1970's loaded with gang-bangers. I know buying a house is smarter, but we just don't know where I/my wife will be in the next 2-3 years. So, what are you guys paying and for what size place? |

Was paying 915 at about a dollar /sqft for a nice place in parker... But rent went up to 1100 so I told them to get bent and bought a house that I had been wanting.

The college girls and riding my sport bike through Boulder Canyon were cool, but the rest was not for me. |

Just bought my first house 3 months ago... my payment is 933.87 for 1 level fenced acre and 2800sf brick veneer home... cant belive how expensive it can be to rent...

$285/month rent. With utilities it averages just under $400/month. This is in a college town in Western OK, roughly a mile from the campus.

|
$850/mo for a 900 sqft 2 bed 1 bath with full basement. 1970s vintage cluster of townhouses, starting to fill up with section 8 and all problems associated therewith.
|
|
$350. One bedroom, somewhat small apartment, right over a gun shop. I drive 45 minutes each way to work, but I can't let this one go. I'm thinking of getting another place and just having both.
|
|
$1025 for a 860 sqft apartment with detached garage and pet fee in the DTC.
I'm moving to a cheaper place when my lease is up, but its nice being able to walk to work. |

Damn, you just described my apartment in L.A. to a "T". 1 bed/1 bath for $1000/month. Luckily I spend most of my weekends visiting family in Santa Barbara and San Diego, so I'm really only there on weeknights. |

Jesus that is a lot of money for nothing. Sorry i got nothing but the usual advice not to rent.

Rent - $0 Mortgage Payment - $0 damn. you telling me you cant make more than 3.5% on that 100-200k sitting in your house. you are making bad choices my friend. |

We'll get plenty of "don't rent" or "I'm not dumb enough to pay rent". I don't want to own a house. I definitely don't need that much space. I get a yard, a parking spot (two, actually), and I never have to mow the lawn or shovel the snow. So much as a light bulb goes out, my landlord is on it. I don't want to pay to fix shit. I like to make a call, and it's done quickly, and for free.

$400 a month, all included. Semi-furnished single room, shared bathroom , near a big state University. I always look in Craigslist to find cheap sublet / rooms without a lease.
|
|
$850/mo 2 br, Covered parking 2 spots.
Older place but fairly quiet and it's small, only 7 unit which I like. |
|
I'm paying $794 for 1 bedroom 800sf apartment. That was a big jump from what I was paying in college last year!

$1315/month on a ~1500sq/ft 3 story 2 bed/2 1/2bath town house with a two car garage.
In Tampa, I will be looking at 12-1300/month for a 600-800sq/ft 1 bed/1 bath apartment. |

$450/mo with utilities included. Roughly 500-600sqft - 1BR apt.

Live in Westminster.
We are going to be renting a 2br/2ba place for <$1k/mo (or right at $1k/mo depending on when we get out there) in a nice area. Not a bad commute to Denver from there, either. |
|
I pay $333/month in property taxes to my liege lord. You don't really own your house. You have the opportunity to pay for it, but the government really owns all the property in the country with the exception of that owned by non-profit organizations. Just quit paying your taxes and see how long they let you live on "your" property.

2000 sq ft 3 bed, 3 bath with 2 car garage and finished basement for.............$600.
Ohh...and that includes lawn care and snow removal. |
|
$850 for a 2005 3 br/3bath 2 car garage. Tile floors etc.
Couldn't get mortgage payment that low on it, if I wanted to own it.

Local range is $40 a year, with a key for unlimited access 24/7. 100-300 yard rifle range, three pistol pits, silhouette range, archery field, three skeet fields, fishing pond and camp grounds. No RO, tannerite and class III allowed, and backers/steel and the grounds are well maintained. You're right, though...you win. ETA: WTF is this about a range "accepting" you? I'd tell them to sit on it and rotate. |
