Actually, that's pretty cool.

I'd like to put a package like that on my bike helmet, and burn the video of a ride on DVD.  Then I could play it on TV when I ride the indoor bike.

That would be so frigging awesome. I have a hard time riding my exercise bike indoors due to the boredom factor.

If you like your free rig and want to get serious there are only a 100+ companies that sell ready made rigs ranging from total shit to broadcast quality. Actually, building one yourself isn't difficult, as you've found. You just need some better components

Just do a search or "goggle cam" or "helmet cam" or "sports cam" etc.

There's one guy who sells a setup specifically for shooting. It's not really any better than anybody elses stuff, but they've got cool videos at the site:

Cool. But, that thing is just too bulky. That'll give ya a stiff neck. lol Should be able make a much smaller rig.

I didn't buy my set commercially, just built it up from parts I put together from an electronics store. Costs me less than $150 for everything, not including camcorder that accepts video inptuts (which I already had).

I have a helmet camera for dirt biking or riding on a track or mountain/canyon roads on my street bikes. The helmet cam is tiny and just weighs a couple oz. Plugs into a mini digital camcorder, thats in a camel back or tank bag of sorts.

Here is basically what I put together from scratch (commercial version):
www.helmetcamera.com/

I've got cool shots of my dirt bike buddies crashing in the desert via helmet cam and some cool track and street videos with it.

Gorman: Drake, check your camera. There seems to be a malfunction.
[Drake smacks the camera against a nearby support. The picture clears]
Gorman: That's better.

Neat idea.  How badly does it pull your head to one side?

Mount a beer can holder on the other side for balance.

Also do it because this made me think of the beer can holder on an ar that someone did at some point.
