This year I got a realization.

As we humans are often apt to focus on our own problems and miseries, we tend to allow those thoughts to interfere with those things which really make up true happiness.

My life has recently had some much unwanted changes and, as I awoke to a Christmas morning in someone elses home, in a place without my wife and without my step-son, I could not help but let those depressing thoughts overshadow my day.

As I sat there though, preparing to open gifts with my parents, feeling lost, empty and sad, I thought about all those families who have permanent empty spaces around the Christmas tree and the dinner table this year due to loved ones lost in the terrorist attacks and, as a result of those same attacks, those who look at empty places because their sons, daughters, wives and husbands are off defending, preserving and protecting our way of life in a foreign land.

Yes, my life is in turmoil right now.......I love and miss my wife and kid, my home and my life.....but I am alive, healthy and strong and I have a God who cares about and loves me....even when no one else does.

Suddenly, I found my self being very humbly grateful for how richly blessed I truly am and my problesm suddenly became so finite.

So, I say Merry Christmas to all my friends on this forum........to those who greive over lost loved ones.....to our troops abroad and to my wife and son .......wherever they may be.

God Bless You All!!!

My daughter's grades for the semester 3.866, cumulative 3.538.
Bought her a new stereo so I got her old one with the twitchy CD player to make into a home theater setup.
Bought myself some 30-06 black tip in M1 clips for just in case.
Best of the season to most of you.

PS2 with Tekken Tag Tournament and GranTurismo3 (Santa gave it to me; makes the kids have to ask permission before using it, hence giving me control over how many hours they can rot their brains at a time).

New Braunfels "Bandera" Outdoor Smoker, which I used today to produce smoked turkey breast and venison BBQ for the Christmas Feast.

Sweater.  Very Nice. (no, really.)

$100 from the old man (I gave him a Unertl 10 Varmint Scope for his Win 70 .243 Varminter).

$50 from my sister.

Two happy healthy kids, and a wife that lets me have all the guns I want.[:D]  No, really!

Merry Christmas to all,

shooter

This is almost unbelievable.  I'm gonna count Christmas Eve December 24 as part of Christmas.

I received - with about 95% probability - authentication that I probably have only the second known to exist "Rock Island Arsenal" manufactured Model 1903 rifle used in the 1919 National Matches.

The only R.I.A. Model 1903 rifle known to exist was featured in the April 2001 issue of "Man at Arms."  The rifle I have is actually better marked than the featured rifle.

Also I need to point-out that members of AR15.com (Gen. Firearms Discussion Board) were instrumental in directing me to the right places and the correct people.

My thanks to all of you !!

Armitage22,
I believe most if not all the "Springfield Armory" M1A1 National Match with stainless barrel rifles in .308 (But not .243) have been recalled due to trigger-guard failure - a condition that cannot be repaired.

I'll send you my address via email and you can get that vile thing out of your home tomorrow !

My wife and I received our Christmas gift last weekend.  A letter showed up in our mail box with the return address of the president of a nearby private university.  My son, a high school senior, had applied to the university.  We figured it was his acceptance letter.  That's what it was, but it included a scholarship for four (4) full years of tuition, guaranteed even for tuition increases.  All the kid has to do is maintain a 3.35 GPA.  The value of the scholarship is a minimum of $68,000.  Thank you, Santa!!

Shooter, Tuukka and OneShot:

Thanks guys for the concern.

Christmas , to me, has always been a very festive and enjoyable time.  Thank God for family, my brothers in-laws (from Viet-Nam and Malaysia) and a very sweet little 6 month old niece who was the pride of the entire family.

All in all the day went quite well.

Heres to you all!

The big thing was a Fujifilm 2600Zoom, which I originaly thought was the little brother of my old man's digital camera. As it turns out, this model comes with a bigger memory card and better resolution, but fewer features (still has everything I could have wanted and then some). The thing takes really good pictures too.

I also got some clothes, a case for one of my rifles, a case for my bow, and some money, which is going into one of my firearms projects (which one will be the real question).

Now I just have to find a place that is not so damn picky about hosting photos...
