I know this might be in the wrong place but...

I was looking at a now rifle and I was reccomended a different/never heard of brand.  I was looking at a Winchester or a Weatherby.  I was told that a SAKO rifle is a very nice gun and was worth the money.

I am just woundering your opinion.

Thanks

What kind of gun do you want?  Hunting, bench rest, tactical?

What caliber are you looking to shoot, and what will the rifle be used for?

Hunting?
Bench / target?

What distances will you normally shoot at?
Under 100 yards?
100-200?
Out past 500?

Answer some of that and you will probably get some better direction.....also post what models you are currently looking at....all three you mentioned are fairly respected brands.

I like to bench shoot at all ranges.  I also like to varment hunt and deer hunt with it also.  I was looking at a .243 Winchester because it is a middle of the road caliber.  My friend also has a Wichester model 70 Coyote that I really like.

Wichester model 70 Coyote
Weatherby ??  somthing that is nice(I have not looked very much)
Sako 75 Hunter Laminated Stainless or Varminter Laminated Stainless

if you are going to use if for hunting don't get a heavy barrel...

If you aren't going to hunt anything bigger than whitetails get a .243

.25-06 is another excellent caliber for what you will be hunting

SAKO is a darned fine rifle.
Finn, and they take their guns very, very seriously.

My dad has the 70 Coyote .223.  It shoots 5 shot .45inch groups.  I don't think you would go wrong with the .243 in that model.

+1.  Sako rifles are very nice.

I like your winchester model 70 idea also, thats what my .243 is, and I could not be happier with it.
