Very nice shape, 93k on it, mostly highway. It is the limited version with the 4.7L and all the gadgets. We got burned on our last Chrysler product and are leery of another.... The price, condition and rep for off-road ability is the draw for me. Am I going to post reviews like this one from Edmunds in a few years if I get one?

   2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review
I have had nothing but issues with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The mechanics in the automatic windows is faulty, this model has a well documented faulty brake problem, with a class action lawsuit to boot. The transmission is no dream either, constantly slips and has trouble shifting gears. This oversized golf cart is quite possibly the worst investment that you can ever make, save your money and get an Accord. I've also had issues with alignment on the vehicle, so in short I really don't have anything positive to save about the Jeep Grand Cherokee other than the fact that the wheels have not flown off the vehicle while driving but I must say that is about it. Hope this helps.

They look cool and ride very nice but are not rated very well by Consumer Reports for longer term durability.

That said, my dad's has been good. Don't remember the year his is though.

My dad's boss had an 01 IIRC, a Limited with the 4.7 and it was a STEAMING PILE!
The AC wouldn't work, and other problems.  He traded it for a GMC Envoy.

Besides the transmission and air conditioning problems they are fairly good vehicles.

Walk away from the 4.7L.  The truck would be ok if it had the 4.0L straight six but the 4.7L v8 is a gas hog.  The 4.0 will last forever, the v8 I dont know.  I have a 05' Grand Cherokee and I am a Jeep fan.  But, I would look for the I6 if I wanted that body style.

I drive an '01 Grand Cherokee Laredo. I love mine. All I can say is that I wish I had the V8.

+1 on the gas hog-ness. My dad's got one and I have the 4.7l in my Dakota truck. In mixed driving I am lucky if I get 17mpg.

I've got a 2002 WJ with the 4.7 lifted 4" and love it. The only problems I have had are with my sunroof and power steering pump, the latter of which could be attributed to my much larger tires.

Check out Jeep Forum for more info. There is a tech section for the ZY/WJ Grand Cherokees and provides a lot of helpful info. good Luck.

True. But the 6 seems so gutless.

Dad quit buying jeeps because of his last one (can't remember which year).  Bought a Durango next, and now has swore that off.

Not good news, moreso because grandpa ran a Mopar dealer and garage, and dad worked there from knee-high to a grasshopper through tech school.

Dad bought a Toyota last month.  Gpa is spinning th the grave.
