I am in Dallas.
I like Steak, so I would go with: Bob's Steak and Chop House 3 Forks And never been there, but The Mansion. What are the best in your town? TXL |
My buddy up until recently was the Executive Chef at the Bangkok Marriot Resort and Spa. GREAT chow: Trader Vic's, Benihana, and 7 other restaurants. Highest possible standards, and a fantastic experience.
Since he left a few weeks ago, I just go up to his penthouse apartment in my building, bring some beer, and get world-class preparation if I bring something for him to cook. If it's one thing Bangkok has in abundance, it's wonderful restaurants. Some places are so cheap, 2 can eat and drink for hours for about 10 bucks. Edited to add link and pic for le Chef de la Cuisine: www.bangkokpost.net/100306_Realtime/10Mar2006_real001.php |

You've obviously never been to East Buffet! |
Nearest town is Delta I suppose, and they only have one:
1. Winchester Saloon at the truck stop. They even have a Winchester hanging over the bar. If zombies ever invade my AO, you know where I'm going. |
I can not afford the "best" resturants in Austin, and have no real way to say which 3 are the best. However, for the ones that a couple can dine for less than $100, Castle Hill is my favorite special occasion place (that said, it has been 2-3 years since I have eaten there - used to got 2-3 times per year). Tons of great places cheeper though, and I tend to like them almost as well.
The best that are affordable to me?
Toojay's Olive Garden Johnny Carino's Country Italian Grill |
Smartass! You beat me to it. 1) Sonic 2) Subway 3) Burger King Actually we do have one very nice restaurant. I've eaten there twice or three times. Expensive (for around here) and very good. Then a couple of nice restaurants. I haven't eaten at either one but they have a good reputation. Being single I hate going to nice places by my self. |

1. New York Ritchies (Cheesesteak, and NY style Pizza). Owned and operated by actor Richard Brose
2. 10 Depot St - expensive place, but great food, awesome prime rib. 3. El Erradero - Best Mexican resturaunt anywhere. |
1. Freda's - hole-in-the wall diner by the railyard- you get a meat, a starch, a vegetable, and a roll with the meal of the day.
2. Melvin's by the Lake - has a great view of Green Lake - sounds like it will be torn down after the summer - can't make it with just the summer crowds 3. Grizzly's - one of the newer franchise places around here |
counteropinion for dallas: 1. the mansion 2. aurora 3. del frisco's honorable mention: hotel ste. germain |
Easy.
Mi-Pueblo British Open Pub Casey's But then again, nobody has ever heard of these places.... |
The Barn in Smithville? |
Landry's
Waffle House IHOP ... in reverse order. The more white trash, the better. If the waitresses aren't making out on top of a twenty year old car in the parking lot, with the cook, then the restaurant is no good. I love living on the Redneck Riviera. |
In Newnan, GA,
Mama Lucia's (Italian) Bugaboo Creek (Steakhouse) Sushi Hana (Habachi/sushi bar) (although they just renovated and changed their name. If they suck now, then Gus' Jackson Street Grill for some great burgers and sandwiches) |
Agree with Bob's Chop House....3 Forks??? Yeaccchhh. Replace that with Steel. The Mansion is OK, but I would prefer Fogo De Chao. |
Coerper's Five O'Clock Club
Bartolotta's Lake Park Bistro Rusty's Backwater Saloon (in Point) Mil, WI -JTP |
yep Im in wooster so its tecnically the town over, but close enough for government work. |

Can it be the Dallas area?
Tupinamba- 1 block north of Inwood and Forest Joe's Italian Cuisine- Quorom and Beltline in Addison Sonny Bryants for BBQ- Preston and Forest, and in Maple Lawn Extreme Honorable Mention goes to: Great Outdoors Love And War in Texas Bobs Steak and Chop House now in my hometown, I got a problem, as there's only two resturaunts. Wild West Saloon Pizza House |
In my "town" there is only one restaraunt. It isn't exactly world class.
Grey Moss Inn.
Nothing else comes close. It has been in business since 1929. Great food at decent prices for the quality and service. The executive chef is world class. But if you want to impress your date and |
+1 We have a Texas de Brazil in Fort Worth. Awesome chow. |
Man I may have to change my answer. I forgot about Perry's in Uptown.
There is a crap load of restaurants Uptown Dallas. Zambuca and Martini Ranch for happy hour Also have McGuirres and Matitito's But for my 3 I am changing it to: Bob's Chop house Steel Tied for 3rd is Fogo De Chao and Perry's |
Oh if we are talking Orange COunty SoCal.
Tutta Mare Antonucci John Dominis may have to put in Las Brisas in there too. |
For Fayetteville,NC (ako Fayettenam)
Huske Hardware House on Hay ST. It's a brewery/bar/restaurant. 3? Nothing else comes close. |
1. Monterey's Mexican Restaurant
2. Outback Steakhouse 3. The Melting Pot |
1.) Las Margaritas
2.) Davids Real Pit BBQ 3.) CJ's (beer deals) |
3 Forks is terribly over rated. I've only been to the Del Frisco's in Manhattan - but if the one in Dallas is equivalent then it deserves to be in the top 3. The Mansion is the epitome of new money snobbery in my opinion. As mentioned by another poster The Oceanaire is the best sea food place in Dallas for sure. |

The best in Austin (my current residence) is Jeffery's on West Lynn. No contest. |
I think the some of the best in London are: Petrus, Gordon Ramsay at 68 Royal Hospital Road, and J. Sheekey.
Oh and since I lived in New Orleans too....
Brennan's Emeril's Tommy's |
In my town we don't have anything I consider real good. There are more pizza joins and bars serving the same old crap. We make better meals at home then they serve.
Only three? In NYC? Fuggedabout it...Way too many to list....
I like
The Marx Bros. Cafe Jens's Mick's at the Inlet Those are my favorite fine dining restaurants here, though there are others that are just as good. I mainly look for original, different food for fine dining. Stuff I've never seen or tried before. |
Yes I did. Except the local one has too many "derelict" types hanging out there. |
I'm outside of DC which obviously has some world-class restaurant, but right here in my actual town of residence (Reston) I would say:
Morton's McCormick & Schmick Fortune In the larger metro area my favorites are: Inn at Little Washington (considered on of the best in the world) L'Auberge Chez Francois Laboratorio del Galileo |
