For me it was the Equipment Exchange.
I was buying fairly regularly at the time and I cruised the Equipment Exchange looking for buys. (I believe I followed someone's posted link.) After that I checked out some of the technical forums, found the General Discussion Forum, lurked a while, got hooked, and as they say the rest is history ! |

I got started on AR-15.com on night when I entered www.ar15.com into the adress block on netscape, just to see if it would work. I had just gotten my Armalite and was digging for info anywhere I could find it. I started out in the Armalite forum and GD and eventually got all over the site...[:)>]

Looking for prices for my first AR purchase a few months ago. Followed a link from Google I think. Got sucked into this cesspool...um, whirlpool of freely flowing opinions, been lurking till the other day. This is my first gun related, well sorta, post. Hope to be here a while. btw, bought a post-ban Bushmaster from the brother of a buddy at work. Excellent condition, shoots like a dream. ByteTheBullet (-: |

It was a long long time ago, and I was interested in getting an AR15 and found this site while searching the entire universe for all information AR15 related. I liked the articles on AR15 stuff, and interestingly enough got hooked on the forums for the entertainment value.

I was looking for information on AR-15's, having just bought my first one, a post-ban Bushy. Followed a link here from Yahoo. Found a wealth of information, a lot of like minded people who share a lot of my values, and some lively discussion. Great site.

I was freaking out over Y2K.
Turned out to be for the best. I have had my eyes opened to self reliance and have become pretty Libertarian for a Republican. The best thing to come of it was that I started shooting in 1999 and it has turned into quite the obsession...er...hobby. My wife digs it too, although she made me drop out of the gun a month club last year. |

I honestly typed in ar15.com, hit enter.
And then it flashed up in front of my eyes instantly(it was fast then), and said whoa! I'd pay for it if it was $20 bucks cheaper. |

I was in the market for an AR15 and was gleaning all the information I could find off the internet and of course when you do general search for ar15 this site comes up near the start and the rest is history. I joined the TEAM fairly soon after but I still feel like an outsider??? When do I get to eat in the dining room with the big people? lol [smile]

Same as a lot of others here. I had just got an AR, and noticed at the range that some people had some really tricked out ARs. "Where do they get that shit?" I wonder. Sooooo....I get on www.37.com, ask for AR-15 info, and lo and behold, not only do I get quite a list of aftermarket parts dealers as well as manufacturers, but this website called "AR15.com". Being the inquisitive sort, I came to take a look. Have never regretted it.
|
|
I came to AR15.com for the pay.
[:D] honestly, I was looking for some info as I was building my first clone.... back when we were at the "old" site. Lots of good people are here, and yes a few @ssholes, but your bound to get a few everywhere you go. The back grounds of everyone is so diverse I challenge you to find something that someone here doesn't know anything about. |
|
I went shooting with a guy I worked with who has a PB Colt. It was the first time ever for me to shoot an AR-15. Got to work a few nights later and was surfing the net and tried www.ar15.com and...voila...I wound up here. Lurked around for a few months before ever posting. Now its like an addiction.

I dunno. Gubmint satellite beaming messages at me perhaps... Telling me to run away, run away, so I did just the opposite!
|
|
I also typed in ar15.com and found the site.
But this was after I had made a choice to have or get better taste in what type of rifle I would own. There are a lot of gun owners out there that have crappy guns. |

Just typed it in like most people.
Now www.ar-15.net was interesting too. |
|
typed ar15.com into IE to see if it would work. Lurked about 2 months before registering and posting.

my fingers...
did the typing, found it, even before it was a message board! i have loved, honored, and cherished it ever since! |

I followed others here after the demise of the old AK site. In time I grew to like the inhabitants when the new AK site was created by GB and Campy. I then over the course of time fell to temptation and actually bought an AR.
I like this place, mostly good folks, trolling to a minimum. No real bigots or nutcases. We do have kentstate4, the guy that uses the name of my alma mater without permission and won't answer whenever I quetion him on it, but I guess every village needs its idiot. All in all, this place is great entertainment. |

Back when ARs could still be purchased in California, my buddy John and I each bought a Bushmaster complete lower. I didn't have enough money for a complete rifle, but I knew I'd better act fast since they were supposed to be banned soon.
I didn't know which upper to get- 16" or 20", A2 or flattop, so I started researching online for more info. Doing a search for "AR15", the old site was one of the first to come up. I lurked for a while, the info here at the time felt overwhelming. I ended up registering the same day Weaponforums.com(R.I.P.[:(]) began. I joined both forums that day and life has been better since... And my first upper was a RRA 16" flattop, with removeable carry handle. My buddy got the same, but 20" with a brake. It seems so long ago... |

After I bought my ArmaLites (2 postbans and a Sterling AR180), I kept seeing references to ar15.com at ArmaLite's website, so I came over and got addicted.

I needed some help putting together a lower and you guys have the best damn directions I have seen.

I finally broke down and bought a computer. Then got connected to the net. Then found For the Hunt.com. Followed a link from there and wound up here about a year ago. Like a bad guest, I never left.

I'm a troll, sent by Democratic Underground.com.
Oh, was I supposed to keep that a secret? Well, dang, too late now. I think I will become a gun nut then. |
|
i belive it was a web serch that resulted in a pre/post article that was on the old sight. i then joined the old site, just before it went the way of the dodo.

My gunsmith sent me here to get questions answered. I have not asked any. just participated in the variety of arguements, I mean discussions.

I was advised to come here by my 300 pound Samoan Lawyer, Have four room service sandwiches, a shrimp plate, four grapefruits, a bottle of 151 Bacardi Rum, and a bottle of Glen Livet sent up to my room pronto, and put it on Goatboys tab.
Oh and tell the maid not to be alarmed by anything she finds in the room. |

I'm a relative newbie, having found this site about 3 years ago. I hung out in the maintenance, ammo, uppers, and optics forums at first. Having learned most of what I need to know, I now spend most of my time here BSing.

I had just finished watching a movie on TV, so I started surfing the web. Got bored and started thinking of a website to go to...then I thought of the M16s in the movie, and tried www.m16.com, got nothing and then I tried www.ar15.com...
...I have been stuck here ever since. |
|
I wanted to build my own AR-15 and a friend mentioned this site.
I lurked for a long time, gleaning useful info. This resulted in my Bushmaster M4gery. If I remember correctly, I started posting in the General Discussion Forum after reading a post by Eric the Hun. I thought it was an interesting avenue for enlightened conversation. Boy was I wrong. [;)] |

Someone told me that www.ar15.com was the premier site for cat recipes.
|

I came here after it was recommended to me on the rec.guns newsgroup - I was looking at getting an AR custom-made.
I ended up having Fulton ARmory do it. Helluva nice rifle![:D] Tack-driver and flawless function, too! Anyway, got hooked on the generally excellent discussions here, and here I remain (when I'm not whacking the gun control freaks over on DemocraticUnderground.) |
|
Once upon a time, before the Internet forum had been invented, I got tired of all the BS on rec.guns (and was having trouble getting newsgroups at work anyway) so I went looking for mailing lists. The old ar15-L was listed on another site and I joined up. Then the forums were added so I started spending time on both.
For some reason my productivity at work keeps slipping... |

I wanted an AR so I started looking for info on the web. I found & subscribed to the AR15 mailing list for a bit and eventually found my way to the forums on the old site. Been here every since.
