Yes it's been a rough start, just like it was last year.

Lots of gunfire deaths.

I posted this in one of the other threads but it's worth repeating...It doesn't matter if we are in a coffee shop in Lakewood or at roll call in a Detroit station, we need to be on guard and ready to act.

There are plenty of times we are ready for a gun fight and know that going in, but we have had plenty of cops attacked and injured or killed at times when we don't typically expect it.

Stay safe guys.

Just after Christmas, into the New Year, no sunlight to be found in most of the U.S. right now.

More lenient sentencing, Tons of mental institutions relying on "Dope 'em up and let 'em go".

We're up against a tough wall at the beginning of a new year.

Hopefully, no where to go but up.

To the fallen, RIP.  We'll take it from here.

To those who remain - train hard and stay safe.  I spent half the day today at the range, then two hours in the gym.

This, +1,000,000.

Training.  Get some, and take it serious.  'Nuff said.

Complacency.  Don't get it.  If you got it, get rid of it.

My mantra:  Do unto others BEFORE they do unto you.

And from Hill Street Blues:  Let's be careful out there!

Stay safe, my brothers and sisters.  Always watch your back, and your partner's.

Seems like every time I open this forum there is news story about this.  RIP to those brothers and sisters that have past.  Everyone else stay safe and take care of each other out there.

What I find amazing is this, law enforcement is the most visible sign of government from the uniforms to the cars.  Line of duty deaths by assault was up 31 percent last year.  If I was a citizen or a member of government I would be looking at this with great concern...like the canary in the mine.  But, if you shoot one congress person it is like...omgggg...the sky is falling.

Consider, if you may...

This many Postal workers shot down, in various locations across the country.

This many IRS agents shot down.

This many Public Works employees.

This many Taco Bell employees.

This many WalMart greeters.

This many anybody, with a common thread lying within how they earn their pay. And the outrage would be prolific and pronounced.

The deputy in Lincoln City, Or is doing better from what I understand. They are calling out SWAT teams and all kinds of stuff. Statewide effort to catch that sumbitch.
