I know its a scary tought but lets hear some opinions that are likely to be acurate.

What would it be like now if Kerry was Pres. and the aftermath of KAtrina?

I am picturing the military being used as LE and doing unspeakable things against civilians.

I would also imagine the media running foll speed ahead with the antigun crusade in the wake of the tragedy.

If he was President we wouldn't be worrying about Katrina. It would seem insignificant.

We'd be worrying about the war that would be occuring in the Western Pacific.

I'm sure he would be riding fairer press but you know that forum with the time line really hits home. Bush couldn't have handled things better. Patty

I dont think it would be much different than it is now, except that no-one would be blaming kerry like they are bush. The mayor, governor, and senator would all still be idiots.

Not much would be different other than peoples perspectives.

We would still be in the middle east.

New orleans would still be gone but people would be saying it is a tragedy instead of playing the blame game.

Kerry would publically put all the Republicans on the spot by asking for a new assault weapons ban and it would probably get pushed through if he asked publically. Lets face it if GWB had wanted it renewed he could have said so and it probably would have drawn the votes to squeak another one out.

Two new Democrats would be on the supreme court.

That's about it IMHO.

Somehow, the NO situation would still be the Republicans fault or the militaries fault. The C of the Joints chiefs would be fired as would other responsible military personnel.

Kerry would be saying he inherited a dysfunctional FEMA from Bush.

Nothing would have happened differently.

He would be praised, by the media, for coming in and saving the people of NO when it became all too clear the mayor and governor were too incompetent to wipe their own asses.

The national and international media would be tripping over each other's dicks to sing his praises.

Shit would be truly F-U-K-T-U-P-P!

Kerry wouldn't be able to use the National Guard against civilians, because we would have sent them all to Iraq. Am I the only person who remembers Kerry's campaign platform:

Vote Kerry - I'm going to send more troops to Iraq, just like Johnson did in Vietnam.

The rioting would still be raging out of control, the death toll would be WAAAAAY higher, and the Coast Guard would be doing shore patrol along with the Auxilary Police.

And that Bush had given tax breaks to the rich instead of paying for levee improvements.

burning meteors would come crashing down on us, earthquakes would split our country in half, militant-gays would rule the land, and even jesus would be too afraid too come back.
Yes, since all political candidates are SOOO different from eachother, I would assume that if kerry would have been elected, the US would be history by now
Get real.

Everything would be the same , maybe slightly diferent, except the democrats would have stopped bitching about Bush and the Republicans would be bitching about kerry. If one side is happy the other side is not.

What happend with Katrina has nothing to do with the president.
Link Posted: 9/7/2005 10:21:25 PM EDT
Lurch would have claimed he saved all the people affected by Katrina single handly
Link Posted: 9/7/2005 10:22:49 PM EDT
He would have sent aid to NO before he refused to send aid to NO.

We'd probably have Islamic terrorists wading through the water with suicide bombs trying to get to something important.

All the Guard units would be either guarding other cities trying to stop bombings or cleaning up cities that had ALREADY been bombed.

Hillary would be nominated to the Supreme Court along with Chucky Schumer.

Afghanistan would be back in Taliban hands as whatever troops Kerry had left to hold the fort, were actually holding a fort and trying to keep from being overrun, as Kerry dithered about rescuing them.
(Sorry guys, no tanks, they might offend someone).

Iraq's new President would be Zaqari, and new and improved terror training camps and new and improved DEATH and Rape camps would be getting set up for the Iraqi people.

Qaddafi would be finishing up his new atomic bomb.

North Korea would be promising to halt production on their bombs, as Jimmy Carter swears they really, really, really, mean it, this time.

The Mexican Army would have camps in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California to insure the safety and security of border crossers, (and drug runners).

The US military would have French and UN personnel assigned to all units to act as "Observers" to insure our Cowboy impulses never again were allowed free reign on the peace-loving world. (Like Sudan and Iran).

The lid would have been blown off the unemployment rate, Inflation would be skyrocketing, companies would either be getting driven out of business by new Federal regulations and environmental regulations, and other companies would be moving overseas to escape the new 75% tax rate.

Dan Blather would still be blathering.

SUV's and any car bigger than a 4-wheel motorcycle would either be taxed out of existence, or banned out right. In any case you would not be able to afford the gas.

Any thoughts about trying to impeach Kerry for gross stupidity, cupidity, and generally being an idiot would be brought up short by the knowledge that EDWARDS would be the new President, with Teddy Kennedy probably moved into the Vice-President slot.

Those awful assault guns would of course have been banned, "To save the children".
The NRA would be arguing before the Supreme Court that flint lock muskets ARE NOT assault weapons, and the people should be allowed to own them.

Kerry's Attorney General (Bill Clinton) would be arguing that they are the "drug dealer's weapon of choice", while the police are using armored vehicles to do what little patrolling they are allowed to do, to protect them from the heavy weapons and anti-tank weapons the street gangs now have.

Decent people would be barricaded in their houses from the roving gangs and the ATF squads doing house-to-house searches for assault flint locks.

And worse of ALL: We'd have to listen to Kerry drone on and on and on every time we turned on a TV. (IF we could afford the cost of the power after Kerry signed the Kyoto Accord).

the whole country would be in the same situation as NOLA. And it wouldnt be natures fault.
