What if our first contact with intelligent, extra terrestrial life also brought knowledge of their own religion with a documented history going back 500,000 (Earth) years? Assuming it had almost nothing in common with any of our religions, what would the impact be?
Being as how it predates all of our religious beliefs, would it invalidate our belief systems? Would the fact that they have no knowledge of "our God" be proof of anything? How would such an event affect your beliefs? |

I think if aliens showed up with a Dr. Sues book, it would throw a kink in most religions.
I'd look into it.
But Im kinda open minded when it comes to religion. There are some , many here even, that no matter what you show them , either way , they still wont budge. |

Fuck alien heathens. The God of Abraham and Jesus FTW! QFT. Beware, the parable of time. I fools most who encounter it. |

Quoted: This would have no affect on the Mormons... Yeah, they'd be knocking on the spaceship door trying to convert them. Oh, come on. You know you guys would. It's funny because it's true. |
I don't think it would any difference whatsoever.
Most every major religion is perfectly content at ignoring most other beliefs and debunking them as 'wrong'. Regardless of the fact or truth that is inherent to that particular religion. |
If aliens showed up it wouldn't matter what they said or brought, the world would be changed and society would go mad for a good spell.

What makes you think God isn't an incredibly technologically advanced transdimensional alien being?

What if I went so fast in outer space and I screamed and my head exploded? Aliens are bogus. Read about the Fermi Paradox and Fred Hoyle's take on life. There are no aliens.
Maybe Jesus is like a upper dimentional quantum particle.here.there and anywhere.
It would do almost nothing.
1) the aliens would be described as the work of Satan... 2) if being earliest were the deciding factor, then Christians and Muslims should all be Jews today until the aliens arrive(counting the big 3, ignoring all previous multi-Gods). So, the answer is almost no change. |
Religion has nothing to do with proof. People would just continue doing what they want regardless of whether it's even allowed by the religion they claim to follow.

Most religions only focus on the life on earth and make no mention to the history of other planets and beings. Who is to say the big divine being of your choice made only one planet with life. Maybe theirs was version 1.0 and ours is 3.5.
I would abandon all human religions and instantly worship their alien God, no questions asked.
Well since god predates the creation of the earth in most religions, their history of our earth would have little effect on whether or not you could convince believers that there is no god.
0bama and crew would skull-fuck them too. Sorry, but that is it. fini.
There are no such thing as aliens. If they did in fact exist, Obama would have apologized to them by now.
The Religion of Peace will declare them infidels anyway. Suicide/car/IED bombing will be shortly follow. |

I would think its just a bunch of made up crap like all the others.

I'd think alone that would make me re-think how we got hear. Now instead of Aliens, what if it were legitimate sightings of a Ghost? Think about how that would change our views of physics, science and religion. At least an Alien is physically possible. There is no science proving ghosts. Everything I though I understood about science would be wiped out. |

I'd ask them If they knew that Jesus Christ was their personal savior. I'd ask them
Just who was their boss. |

They don't have a history of Earth. THEIR religious history is 500,000 Earth years old. You have to mention it in Earth years because a year is not a constant for different planets. It takes Saturn longer to orbit the Sun than it takes the Earth. The time it takes for an alien planet to orbit an alien Sun would most likely not be an Earth year. |

If we're lucky, the Religion of Peace would declare war on them and the aliens would wipe the RoP'ers out.

I believe in all those who have been abducted- no B.S.
I also am firmly convinced the Greys (and all the rest of the lot for that matter) want little to do with Mr. Heckler and Mr. Koch's little creation in the nightstand- hence no issues here! |

That question is what WILL determine the impact. Native Americans can tell you all about it. |
